Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

would you like a fake loft to go with that track bike?

Correct. Then they move to Ballard to breed (well the hetero ones anyway).

These ugly piece of **** buildings are springing up everywhere in Seattle though.

For those wondering, the Wookie pubic hair is actually a big stack of carrots. The banner takes up the whole fence. The only other image I remember is two Mojito glasses clinking. The whole thing made me want to puke, but I couldn't pass it without snapping a pic.

How long before the cities in this country start to resemble Sa Paulo?

i'm an architect and i see those 'fake' urban type designs pop up alot. just saying its pretty disturbing that designers will not try to revamp or save older, more authentic type spaces because its just too difficult. they'd rather flex muscle on a detached urban loft-style building. no knocks on you.

I'm a planner and this is mostly the standard of inner-city infill projects that I see. I'm surprised that there is space for something like this on Capitol Hill. I hope they didn't knock down something for that.

Sorry for the sig Eddie. That's just some funny $hit

They knocked down an ugly ol' Safeway for it, but in other cases yeah... The earthquake we had a few years ago was quite a boon for developers. Anyway... It's cool that people want to live in the city, but this stuff is just UGLY. If someone had the guts to build one of these here my track bike and I would be there for sure.

I think I was first on the sig, but it's an important message that needs to get out there. I don't mind sharing.

If I were a tagger-type...

i wish all these fixed gear riders would stop moving into lofts just to be cool

ive been living in a loft for years

and i just cant wait for the fad to pass and the market to be flooded with cheap high quality lofts

these fixed gear riders will just chase the next "in" abode

log cabins maybe

Wow, Safeway on Broardway is gone. I thought all the money I spent there for beer would keep it around forever. I miss Capitol Hill in the early nineties.

funny thing about that image is that the people who actually have money for those lofts don't know what the **** that piece of **** gearless bike even is. this stuff annoys because i'm a designer, and i know if you want marketing to work it needs to be done to the actual market for your product. duh! this is just some bored designer trying to make his ****ty unfun project more interesting. that unfortunately is not the point.
