Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Welcome to the Volunteer State.

Save enough for that last climb, and you should be okay. Just don't expect to set any speed records.

and welcome to the bluegrass state!

that area is beautiful, with rolling hills and the trees will be beautiful this time of year.

just be sure to be aware of your surroundings, people in those parts arnt always the friendliest to guys wearing spandex and bright colors... keep right and in the median when safe to be there.

That doesn't look very hilly to me with only 1800' of climbing in 50 miles. But it's all what you're used to. Enjoy the ride.

If you're going to be in a hilly area why don't you do a ride that actually has some climbing?

i turned into a disaster. eneded up on some unmaintained gravel roads. walking my bike about 4miles because i couldn't ride up the gravel. chased by about 20 dogs that look like they have never been fed. oh well i am alive and thats about all i can say. i learned to stay to the main roads next time i am in kentucky. i seen some real f'n hillybilly shacks. they all have 5 f'n dogs. good ridens to the back roads of kentucky tennessee. i will meet up with someone next time and they can show me where to ride.

You mean the back-woods types who have no clue about grammar and say "I seen" when they mean "I saw"?

Sorry to hear that you had such a bad experience in TN. I had such a good time in Western Tenn last April that I'm planning on staying for 2 weeks next April/May. If you ever get back there again, you might want to try the Mississippi River Trail

BTW, I know what you mean about the dogs. Does anyone in Tennessee own a dog other than a Pitbull?

Did you pick that route at random or did someone give you bad information?
