Bottom bracket for ultegra crank?

Im trying to find the lightest BB I can use with an octalink ultegra crankset. I need english thread 68mm and a 109mm-109.5mm spindle, what are my options? I was looking through the weight weeniest site and thought about the dura ace BB 7700, but under comments it says "Splined" instead of Octalink, will that bb work? I already wasted $60 bucks on a BB that I can't use, apparently its "ISIS" and the spindle has 10 grooves instead of 8, didnt even notice when I bought it.

Octalink (v1) is a form of splined crank/interface bottom bracket. The duraace bottom bracket should work.

You'll probably be limited to the 1 or 2 BBs that can be found in Octalink format. IIRC, there are two different Octalink formats as well (V1/V2).

If the crank is a 6500, you'll most likely need a BB-6500 botom bracket.

The crank is a 6500, I guess I'll just play it safe and get the specific ultegra 6500 BB even if it is a bit heavier.

I would avoid the DA Octalink BB anyway. The Ultegra was a better model.

Good choice but those are had to find. You may have to settle for a 105. Best bet is a local bike shop.

I won one on ebay earlier fairly cheap, used, but low miles so I'm happy.

It would be nice if the other I bought worked cause its really light at 140 grams. I suppose I could always go for a compatible crank for it sometime down the road, although I did the math and with a crank in my budget im only saving 175 grams total, so no big deal I guess haha!

that's only true if you (or your mechanics) don't know how to adjust and maintain a cup and cone BB. the Dura Ace octalink BB is probably the sweetest BB you could ever own.

I know how to adjust a bottom bracket. The DA Octalink BB did not hold up well in wet conditions, as it was not particularly well sealed. For a minor increase in weight, the Ultegra is pretty smooth and more dependable. Just one man's experience.

A weight weenie riding an Ultegra crankset ??

FOR SHAME!

You absolutely require a $500 carbon fiber set! And ditch that second water bottle. Do you have any idea how heavy water is?
