Sigh, busted up.

A bad luck year just got finished.

Getting over a cold, after a season/year of setbacks and disappointments...

Had a fall, broke my collarbone in four places and sprained the shoulder alongside it. Not a cycling fall, just a different, basic kind.

Guess I knew Thanksgiving could be bad for training, just didn't expect it to happen this way.

Up to six weeks of my arm in a sling.

Guess I can kiss the rest of 2007 goodbye, and hope for better luck in '08.

Enjoy your winters, folks. Hope you can be out there riding instead of inside looking out the window.

Yeah, I had a horrible October/November too. It took my LBS a month to warranty my rear wheel and get my bike back to me (I'd start a thread but it's too depressing). I also caught some weird virus that has been attacking my lymphatic system for the past 3 weeks (it's going around so look out).

Anyway, I missed out on some great end-of-the year weather and now my fitness level is down to zero which depresses me.

But I will be moving to Texas in January so I'll be back on the bike (new wheel, tires, chain and cassette) soon enough.

Welcome to the Official Clydesdale Disabled List......

Trying to remember who besides you and I who are on the DL right now..... The only good thing about an injury now is that most of us are not riding much anyway..... It's a lot worse when you get an injury in April, and you lose several good training months.....

Just got out of a sling recently myself. I feel your pain! Ironically, I'm writing this from the hospital! I had a little issue yesterday and will be in for a few days and will also be off the bike for the rest of the year at least! I just shot a foot of intestine out my butt! Rectal Prolapse is literally the most painful experience of my life!

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeikes

Guess that means 3 of us on the DL, and none where unplanned bicycle dismounts were involved.

Sorry to hear about all you guys being laid up.

I've got to get on a plane in three days to go to Europe, and not only can I not ride, I can't do any real photography on the trip either... writing is also iffy. Not sure what activities that leaves... beer, possibly?

Six weeks should see this healed up, though.

Hopefully this will be the end of a run of bad luck, though, which has made this year rough:

-costochondritis (two separate times, between four and six weeks each)
-broken toe (three weeks of downtime)
-throat infection (three weeks, treated with levaquin, which led to)
-four weeks of pretty severe tendon pain

Now this for six weeks, so I've had close to thirty weeks where I've been down for the count. So, hopefully this is the end of the line for small, titchy and stupid issues.

Good luck to you all, and good luck to everyone on here for this winter and the spring to follow... on into 2008 healthy, and rolling rubber side down.

Tough break. Pardon the pun.

Hope you heal quickly and are back on the bike really soon!

Make that four.

I've been on cycling-specific DL since September, but am hopefully soon to come off and try my first short rides. I have to build up time on bike gradually again, so I dont re-aggravate the disc herniations in the neck.

I think Tom needs to put up a sticky for the 'Clyde/Athena DL'.

Seriously, it's not even the end of the year yet, and our gang here is dropping like flies.

Ok, I'm going to start generating some positive thoughts here .
