Ben Stiller is a close friend of Lance's. He hosted some huge auction for the LAF. It was on The Lance Chronicles.

Basso was wearing one. Which makes sense since LAF is helping his mom. All the Nike athletes in other sports are wearing them as well (good to have Phil Knight as a connection).

Here's another profiteer. Let him know what you think about the 300% markup...

Lots of non-cycling athletes are sporting them, especially if they are sponsored by Nike.

The KFC cashier wore one when I bought a bucket yesterday. An 80 year old lady behind the Red Cross table at a local festival wore one and she told me she read his books and crashed 6 times recently riding her mountain bike. These are the people I'd rather see wearing the band. It doesn't seem right if someone has to "ask" you to wear one.

Hopefully this won't turn into one of those red Kabalah (sp?) bracelets that are oh so cool to wear with all the fashion/celebrity magazines reporting on who's wearing the LiveStrong band. The following conversation will hopefully NOT be overheard somewhere...

"Did ya hear?"
"What?"
"Madonna, Britney Spears, and the whole cast of "OC" were seen sporting one of those yellow Lance Armstrong bands".
"We've got to get one cuz Lance is so hot!"
"Plus, he's dating Sheryl Crow...she's cool!"
"Yeah, and besides, these Kabalah bracelets are so passé now".
"Yeah. I hear they've got them at the mall for $5 each! Very cheap! I wish they came in other colours though...Yellow does nothing for my complexion".

Too bad. I would have liked to own a LiveStrong Watch made out of the nice, sporty yellow band. I'd rather pay $50 for that than $1 for a band that will soon be obsolete. Kinda like the old TagHeuer F1 watches. Bob Roll wears a yellow plastic watch with his band I think.

How about this nice Festina! It's yellow to match, and becuase it's a Festina, it's like wearing a little bit of cycling history on your wrist!

When you pull the crown out, a little needle is exposed. And it comes in three flavors

a. The Virenque (EPO)

b. The Moreau (Steroids)

c. The Willy Voet (Pot Belge)

Collect them all!

By the way, am I the only one here who covets his Festina jersey?

Mercado.

Paul also mentioned that the majority of the stage winners had the LiveStrong band and that it was becoming a bit of a good luck symbol. Hmmmm. I've been wearing one for a bit over a month now. I feel a stage win coming on

Did anybody else but me notice in the Democratic National Convention that John Kerry was wearing a LiveStrong bracelet?

John Kerry supports cancer research and is an Armstrong fan!

I just got back from a two week job in LA and they have become the latest fashion statement. I guess when the glitterazzi are wearing them then it's the hip thing to have even if you don't have clue what they represent!

In a way its lame that the wristband is the new 'Jesus is my homeboy tshirt', however... if they are buying them who cares... I'll still be wearing mine a year from now though...

one thing for sure, the whole livestrong cult is great marketing for nike. you can't miss the swoosh on the packaging. nike is getting its money's worth.

Thankfully there is no swoosh on the band itself. I hate Nike and would never buy or wear any of their logo c@#p. Anyway I support the concept of the bands and as Peloton member I wear my band 24/7.

Is the swish on the packaging a new thing?

I looked at the package I got back in June... No Swoosh. In fact, there's nothing Nike on it at all.

could be.

the swoosh is on the little cardboard card at the top of the baggie containing the band. it's small but quite clear and, considering that it's the only logo, quite prominent.

here where I live people are wearing them pretty regular. If they can find them.A local female has cancer and I think maybe where they are selling them if you make a small donation to help her they place a small red strip around the livestrong band.I have had several people ask me to pick them up one if the back orders catch up.They plan to give me more than a dollar for thou.If this happens the money will go to LAF.

Chip,

The Livestrong bands are packaged in two ways:

(1) If you get them through LAF or wearyellow.com, you get them packaged in a plain plastic bag.

(2) If you get them at a Nike or Trek store, you get them packaged with the Swoosh logo.

Hope this helps.
