Not to hijack, but does anyone know a source for celeste touch-up paint? I can't find it in the Bianchi online "store." Once I get mine touched up I'll post photos.

Not quite. Peugeot had a celeste-colored model out in the mid-eighties. Very light bike for that era, but pretty noodly.

One of my saddest cycling days ever was last fall when I drove into the garage with my vintage Bianchi Pista Celeste on the roof rack. It lost the battle. It was the bike I rode at National back in 1980. Had the luck to go up against Nelson Vails who won the Silver medal at the Olympics just 4 days prior in the first round. And then Mark Whitehead in the repercharge. Then I got to sit around for five days waiting for the points race. The bike served me well in subsequent years as my road fixie.

I used to think it looked weird but soon found that the color grows on you.
It is also very recognizable for just a solid color (as most companies who brand with block colors use dual tones - you wouldn't recognize Walmart's logo without their blue and white or Fed Ex's logo without the purple and orange).
I like it a lot. Celeste is cool, composed, and very modern while still feeling classic (maybe since it's on a Bianchi)

I like 'em in celeste or white, but only the way Bianchi does white.

Wow, the color has a name!
In the seventies, the bathrooms in my high school were painted 'puke green'. I started cycling seriously then and some of the guys in my club had Bianchis. They told me the color was celeste green. To me, celeste still brings back memories of high school and looks suspiciously like 'puke green'.
Now I am not a Bianchi owner (I ride a Bridgestone RB-1) but they are beautiful bikes. If I ever buy one it will be steel and it absolutely must be celeste (puke) green.

Plenty of makes of bikes around and from a distance- You cannot tell what it is.
Not so with a Celeste Bianchi. You recognise it straight away. And not too many years ago- If there was a Bianchi on a ride at one of the stops- You could not see the bike for admirers. That colour says it all. A bike to be proud of. Only have one Bianchi and it 's an MTB. Fantastic bike Even though I am now a roadie.

Celeste. All Celeste and I love it.
I also got the impression that Bianchi favored Campagnolo components on the Celeste colored bikes.

Here is my Bianchi SS conversion. Anyone know anything about the year and model of the frame? It says that it is "MADE IN ITALY," and I think it Columbus tubing. I believe it is somewhere in the 1980s. Any info would be appreciated.

What size is that? If I ever get another bike, it'll be something like that.

I know, I know, this is an old thread, but you can't ever have too many Celeste pictures.
My 2012 Bianchi Infinito.
The obligatory garage-door shot...
Here is a catalog picture of the 2011 model, notice the subtle color scheme variation...
Cockpit shot (the steerer tube will be cut off after I have dialed in the right riding position)...
Bianchi-issued white handlebar tape and celeste brake hoods...
FSA Compact handlebars (and FSA stem)...
And here is some non-Bianchi Celeste...

At the moment I have two Bianchis. A fixed gear pista, and an old red (1970s vintage) entry level road bike which a now deceased friend gave to me. I long for my old Bianchi road bike in Celeste, and think the Italian government should pass a law mandating that all Bianchis should be adorned with that wonderful but terrible bathroom tile green. For most of my 60 years I could spot a Bianchi from a half mile away, just by the color.

Here is my other Italiana:
The Litespeed is not Italian, but it has many Italian components so I am safe (I think):

There's really no other brand/color association that's as iconic as Bianchi Celeste. Now if I could just find an early-60's Specialissima, 64cm, celeste...
And is there any truth to the rumor that "celeste" translates as "sky blue"?
