Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Favorite helmet loosing its inner padding . help!

ok,
im sure im not the only one who has a really snazzy helmet that has its inner pads starting to fray and come all tattered. so is there some place to buy replacement brow pads exec for a helmet? or is it just time to trash the whole thing and buy a new bucket.. any one have some source for a replacement pad solution.

some sort foam pad stripping that will take Velcro?

How old is it? Helmets are supposed to be replaced I think every three years. Even if they don't have a scratch.

Three years of riding every day or three years of riding just on weekends? Believe all the hype and you'll be buying a new CF frame every four years and a new seatpost every two.

If you have ridden enough to destroy the pads, then your sweat has probably done a number on the foam too. I would just vote for replacement.

Just e-mail the mfg as said. I have gotten two sets of pads out of Giro for my Eclipse over the last 2.5 years just include the serial number off the helmet.

As previously suggested by the other members contact your manufacturer. I know that Met for instance does sell new padding kits for its helmets.

When the pads on my 4 yr old Bell Phi helmet wore out, I emailed Answer_Desk@bellsports.com and asked them where I could get replacement pads. They responded and asked for my mailing address. I provided my mailing address and two days later a package arrived containing 2 sets of replacement pads, no cost to me whatsoever.

Swing by your LBS and ask nicely.

I just went to the LBS and asked if I could get some new pads. The guy went rummaging in the back in the "Bell" box and came back with new pads. "How much?"

"Forget it. It's on the house."
