Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Help a noob out - new to the road bikes

Hi ya!

So I just bought me a nifty Barney Purple 85 SR300 in beautiful shape, going to take it down the the LBS (haha picked up some lingo trolling the forums) and have it tuned up - the rear wheel needs truing too. Went down to Rose Bowl last night and road around a couple of time - I love the way this bike rolls down the road!! I have been riding a inbred for the past 5 years and mt bikes off and on prior to that (mostly off since my last was stolen), but on the road bike I noticed that my palms get sore quite quickly. I was not wearing gloves I am going to pick some up today and bring my tools riding next time to work on any adjustments.

I would really appreciate any sage advise this forum has to offer...

Wear gloves, wear a helmet, and when you have questions for the forum use the search function first.

Welcome to BF n00b.
