Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Cheapest way to ship my bike?

I just purchased a new trek 2.1 pilot to replace my dependable and loyal trek 7500 hybrid. I was thinking to sell it to supplement the cost for the new bike but have instead decided to ship it down to our place in FL. I can easily disassemble it but what and who is the best and cheapest to ship it with? Does someone have a special box or rate that will make it simple? or is my best bet to dissassemble it enough to ship it in mutiple small boxes? Who else has expereince with this and can make a recomendation?

Thanks

Go to a shipping hub instead of a retail store. I a complete bike in a normal cardboard bike box from FL to TX once for $19 with DHL.

I've been trying to figure out how to ship my bike from Toronto to Seoul, Korea for a while now. I know there are other threads on this very topic, but perhaps some new insight might find its way through this thread.

Problem: too expensive, brown-box shipment methods might damage bike. Carrying as "extra luggage" with airline is a complete rip off.

in the country, fedex ground is the way to go. if you have someone on the other end pick it up, grey hound can ship it to the bus station.

It going to cost you at least 100 to ship it. I'd just take it with you the next time you go down there.
