'61 Paramont Sprints! (Video)

Had some free time today, and created this video of the '61 Paramount on a fast, smooth sprint.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ye5pWPcy9Wk

Came out better then I thought, really, for I had intended to use this clip for an unrelated video (part of the reason why I'm in a obnoxiously poseur-like aero position).

Nevertheless, I hope you fellows enjoy it.

Take care,

-Kurt

Needs work.

Feels is if u had it on a tripod and it was sticking. Use freehand, u can do it alot better after some practice.

Don't be afraid to re-shots, rest the rider/pay him if u hafta.

My cameraman had it on a sticking tripod. You think I'd let anyone else but me sprint that Paramount?

Freehand wouldn't be that bad if I had a pseudo-SteadyCam built - but I don't.

You didn't look over-the-top poseur, in my opinion.

That was a lot of fun to watch--we need more videos to see how everyone rides .

Over-the-top Fred, then?

Don't bring A&S here!

Incidentally, I have another video I'm uploading - onboard behind-the-pedal view on the Trek 728 (involved mounting a cheap basket to it in the Grant Peterson fashion - tie wraps). Also a sprint video, for both clips were taken for the same project I'm working on.

Ooh, I should get a video of me going racing down a hill during winter...red cheeks, white knuckles, snot streaming across my beard and all.

Bingo - latest clip uploaded. This is the onboard Trek 728 cam:

Looks like a pretty bad victim of Youtube compression too.

That's painful to watch with the compression going on.

Fits right into the era.

Hit "watch in high quality" - improves it considerably.

Kurt,

1. I never spotted you using the big chainring.
2. Did you come to a full stop at that Stop Sign?

Had I been on the large ring, I would have ruined the effect of a high cadence. I wasn't looking to rocket down the road faster then practically safe, just to make it appear as if I am making a good rate of speed.

Not at any one of the three you saw. I do Idaho-style yield-stops when safe. I dare say you would do the same here too - it isn't the mountains of NH that I'm riding on. Every 300 feet there is a stop sign...

Now I get it

The Trek is going on Craigslist in a week or so - hence the lack of clips. Chose it for the scene as the long chainstays kept the basket mount out of my heels.

Just giving you a bit of grief.

When I was in Atlanta this spring and rode with my nephew he pulled the same sort of stopping technique. Of course they had Stop signs all over the place as well. Here in NH I'd be lucky if I average one Stop sign every five miles. And traffic lights? The nearest one is some 15 miles away, and the next one is another 20. No joking!
