I defer to this article from Pez: https://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=6007
I like this:
"Carbon Wheels. Carbon wheels are for racing! Never under any circumstances should they be brought out on a training ride. Training wheels should be strong and heavy with lots and lots of spokes. Carbon wheels say to the group, I’m not strong enough to do this ride without my $2,000 feather weight wheels."
thats the biggest bs ive ever heard!, I ride carbon wheel sets all the time, what the big deal? On my rides to IBSP (here in NJ), you face 20kt head winds on the 10 mile straight beach road. I like to see what my time is from start to finish, and the areo wheels help big time.....

wear your favourite team. especially if it inspires you.
but at least try to make it match your gear, i see alot of pinarello jerseys on trek riders.
at least you are on a bike, nothing more stupid then a big beer gut walking the mall in a pittsburg steelers jersey.

The only reason I bought the CSC kit from Competitive Cyclist is they had them on sale for the insane price of $50, for both the jersey and bib made by Descente.

I second this. Unless your riding a tt, or racing, you dont need the carbon wheels to train. Alot of us live in the very flat Midwest, lots of wind in my area, lots of spokes on my wheels. Training is suppose to be hard. Thats what makes it fun. Conquer your pain and struggle to finish. That makes you better.
Just like in any sport, spend as much as you want on whatever you want. But dont try to flash your wheels or Postal Service jersey to some dude riding an old Motobecane, he might just call you an a++hole before he drops you. And the flaming started when nodnarb757 said.........

Edit: I see the other posts now.
FWIW, I'll sometimes ride my race wheels immediately before a race to make sure everything is still happy on them and immediately after if I forget to change the wheels when I get home and go out to my bike a few minutes before the next ride and don't want to deal with it

I was actually wondering about this topic and bought my first cycling jersey... I'm not sure exactly what the design history is, but it is supposed to recall Lucho Herrera's Alpe d'Huez stage win in the 1984 Tour de France, the first Colombian (and South American) to do so. (I am also Colombian) bikejerseys.com is selling it... I ordered it yesterday and hopefully it arrives before the weekend.

I must admit though that I was attracted to the team Gerolsteiner jerseys

Well before, and for a long time. Doug lost his crown a year and a half ago, I think he's going after it again next year (he got into a tangle with a truck and was out of action this year). I've retired from the field, but the jersey still comes out.

I pretty much only wear my Ohio State jersey for rides. Its my only race cut jersey and I don't like the flapping in the wind. I probably should have another one or two (that one smells terrible sometimes...) but I've spent far too much on other bike stuff. Luckily Christmas is coming in just 4 months!

I have the Gerolsteiner team champion jersey. Great material, fits well and looks cool. Wear what you want......Isn't trying to avaoid being a poseur by all costs, actually being a poseur by default?

I stocked up on CSC jerseys when they were $24 @ CC. I had a Descente jersey already and loved it - so I figured the more, the merrier. When the Craft CSC-Saxo's/Giordana Bissel's go for cheap - I'll be on them too...

I own one team jersey. US Postal. I have worked for the Postal Service for over 25 years, plus, I liked the team.
