Vintage childs 3 wheeler resto project. Classic?

Came across this little 3 wheeler yesterday.
Couldn't find a more suitable BF category so C+V must be the place to show it
Definitely Vintage and may well be a Classic if you are English and of a certain age....

Complete and working, with solid tyres, front brake and free-wheel.
Drive is to l/h side wheel.

Made by Currys, who also made roadsters and such like in the 40s and 50s.

Doesn't have to be a lightweight roadbike to feature on C+V does it?

I showed it to my son in law, and he said that the ship yard has these running around all over the place with little carts attached to the back... that is PSNS (Puget Sound Naval Ship Yard) if anyone is interested.

I bought a couple of bikes off of a guy and he had some other odds, and this was one of them.
Haven't actually bought it yet, but I probably will

They were common when I was a child in the 50s, but it was a bit too expensive for us then.
There were higher end versions with a lidded boot/trunk on the back, pneumatic tyres etc.
The good thing about this one is that it is complete and usable except for a replacement pedal.
Many got rough treatment and didn't survive.

I have the feeling that the machines in the shipyard may be a little bigger than this one
The scale is not very apparent in my pics.
The wheels are around 12" high and it would be ridden by 4 to 6/7 year olds.

I would bet the ones they have are the Worksman, many of the industrial plants I work at still have them in large numbers, and are still made in the USA.

It is really cute and I'm seriously tempted to buy it and restore it just to see the kids enjoying something that I would have been thrilled to ride when I was 6 or 7!

I now have the cool little machine here on my bike stand
It even fitted inside my old 67 Volvo. And it's not even an estate car.

Don't just have cool bikes you know
Vintage cars are cool too, if you have to drive something.
More photos very soon.
Car too if I get the requests. It's my thread

I love the Amazon!
I once loved my Amazon - hated her dual carbs though.
Too temperamental.
Had to sell her.

LOVE the Amazon. Had three (one of each) and I'd like another. Once the dual SU carburetors are fettled they can give close to 30 mpg on that particular car. With an overdrive they are particularly nice drivers.

Nice find.It looks VERY similar to this 1967 Raleigh Lion trike I found at a garage sale.Frames a little different design but the rest looks identical.Hope you post some pics when you have it done.

Old trikes are cool too.

That's one of my favorite model Volvo's, along with the P1800. It's too bad you don't see that many of them.
I love the trike though, I know I certainly would've loved to have something like that when I was a kid. I saw similar similar on the bay recently in Texas (I think) that was like that, cept it was a two-wheeler, but, about that scale. Wish I'd bought it...

Old trikes are cool too.
That's a sweet little bicycle! Very good condition too.
I only ever saw the Raleigh version in their catalogues but I bet they made plenty of them.
Mine is made by Currys and I suspect it is early 50s. (Currys is now a major electrical retailer chain here in UK)
Heaven knows how to get the solid tyres off the rims!

I will certainly post some pics when it is cleaned up.

This one has a single Stromberg carb and it runs sweetly.
Done 86,000 from new and less than 1,000 miles a year since 1976.

The P1800 is the one to drool over
The Amazons are few and between here too, and I've never seen another in everyday use.
Saw lots when I lived in Sweden though.

The trike is cool though and it's nice to see it's appreciated here on BF.

Always wanted an 1800ES. We had a guy down the street that hot rodded his by swapping in an aluminum block Buick V6. I have had a few Volvo's over the years. The oldest being a 1972 144 Sport. The current one belongs to my DD...not really a classic, but still a good solid car.

Boy, that's an 'in yer face' colour!!
But cool
I've had lots of 240s, mainly estates, and I'd call them classics now.
144s definitely are, here.
The 120s (Amazon) would benefit from a bigger engine, though it's no slouch for an 1800, (100mph on the M5 last week) and my choice would be the old Buick V8s that the Rovers had in the 70s.

Ain't that 60s?

Had a recently rebuilt engine on 80,000miles. 6,000 since.

I had an MGB that was converted to that engine (by Costello of Bedford, UK) and it was a mean machine in its day. Much better than the nose heavy MGC....
The ex Buick 3.5 litre V8 was actually lighter than the original cast iron 1800 lump in the Bs and it flew!
The same engine (developed) was in the Range Rover, Triumph TR8, Morgan Plus 8s but I could never afford any of them!

Now I just use bicycles
(My pal drives it when needed)

I had MG B's and C's. Always wanted the GT V-8. That aluminum GM v-8 is a killer engine. There are still a few in salvage yards over here, but command premium prices. Dad had an old Volvo when I was younger, IIRC it was about a 1954 or so. I do recall it had the split windshield, but don't recall the model. Dad had a couple of Jag's too. Last one was a 1951 Mk VII. Then he got into Renaults

You mean this one?

Volvo 444 from around 56.
I also know what Mk 7s are too.
Only ever had one, an automatic, when I was about 18 or 19.
Great cars
