I'm no Joey ... (video)
But I love his vids!
Suitably inspired, I offer a few select clips from my 8-miler to work in Tucson. Near the end, note how security guard Mike has spotted me from the lobby and opens the gate for me remotely. What service! I use the Fuhgettaboutit chain not because I don't trust my co-workers but because it's my only lock.
Camera is a handheld Kodak EasyShare V570. Music by David Byrne and Richard Thompson.

Cool vid...I would lock my bike up through the back tire and around the frame...unless you are certain no one will ever try to steal it. It's cool how the gate just opens though...

Neat video.. love the sandals. Looks comfortable.. I also park in the gated part of my building, but have a badge to scan the security gate, and have a kryptonite evolution I keep locked to the sign post so I dont have to carry it.
I like your bikes color.. must be the breezer citizen in emerald green. I have the mercier kilo tt in green, they are pretty.

Thanks, MetalChef! Would definitely lock the back wheel at Albertsons or Safeway!
Thanks Chrism! It's a Breezer Citizen, mos' def. Quite a tank.
Vipon: I snagged the non-commercially-available Byrne piece from DimeADozen.

Nice work! I always enjoy seeing the world via bike video.
I bet you don't get much rain out there. And I love palm trees - would never live somewhere if they couldn't grow palm trees. Nice cloud formations too.
Thanks.

I roll down the snake bridge, then down underneath Aviation and the Railroad tracks as well on my commute! Much shorter ride for me though.

I half expected to see myself coming across the Basket Bridge there towards downtown.
But that's because everything is always about me...![Big Grin](images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Nice vid! You're keeping pretty darn good pace with the traffic on that left turn too. Yay for bicycle-friendly Tucson!

Great to see the Tucson commuters chime in! I'll give you a dingding when I see you at the bridge. I thought the Chinese freight cars rolling by were a nice touch.
Ain't nothing friendly about bicycling in Tucson. I was paintballed under the bridge.

Hah. In Arizona you can legally carry a gun anywhere. You can carry a machine gun, in fact, as long as you've paid the correct taxes and don't hide it under your overcoat. But you can't carry nunachuks. Two pieces of wood attached by a rope. Can't carry that, LOL.
Carrying wouldn't help anyway. Not when you're dealing with a vehicle in the dark, speeding past you from behind. If you can't ID someone from a lineup, TPD will politely take your report, then crumple it up and laugh at you behind your back. Personal experience.

I agree. Although one could easily get a permit to do so here so long as you are not a felon already. I never could figure out a good way to pack heat where I could actually get my hand on it in reasonable time. Would be nice for those after dark flat tire repairs!

Truth. Be careful if your workplace has one of those no-weapons rulz.
If it duz, and you wind up getting into a high-intensity evironment, you might wind up trying to explain why you had a whistle on your way home.
Don't think saying "I stashed it outside every nite" is gonna work.

Just starting out with my vid camera, enjoyed that...having that bus lane would be so nice on my commute through this one section.
Noticed that the cagers seemed pretty well behaved that day, looked like only one near buzz.

Can't access YouTube at work, but looking forward to watching/listening when I get home. Pretty much anything by Richard Thompson is ALWAYS a good choice of musical accompaniment!
