Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sock Length

Random question here:

What sock lengths do you guys prefer? Is it a tan-line thing, a look thing, or a comfort thing?

Short sox with shorts, regular length when it's cold out.

Quarter for my early morning commute. It's annoying to have a stripe of cold on my ankle when the leg warmers don't overlap. In warmer temps, quarter or really short are ok.

One low should be just about right. No higher than the high end of your ankle.

I'd like to ride no socks, but I have funkified way to many runners after sweating them up in the summer.
I don't want to do that to my bike shoes.

If it's hot you want less sock. If it's cold you wear overshoes and sock length doesn't matter.

However the primary consideration is a cool graphic.

Actually ... if it is cold it does matter. One of the best ways to keep your feet warm is to keep your lower legs warm. Be the duck!!
https://www.machka.net/whatworks/coldfeet.htm

In cold weather I wear a thin polypro sock, then a heavy wool knee length sock, then my tights and shoes, and then booties. That combo keeps my feet nice and toasty in cool-cold conditions.
