Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Bah, I use my Bosch colt for almost everything these days.. Don't even know where my router table is buried.

Oh hobbies, woodworking is good, started in that from speaker building, and started speaker building after amp building, started amp building after building robots (just line followers nothing fancy) started robots that after realizing I played way to many computer games and I should just get a life...

Yet here I am after filling some knot holes in my boys bunk beds posting on BF... Still no life.

I'm pretty sure the router I used for gunwale mortising when I built my kayak was Porter Cable. Borrowed it from my uncle and fitted a Mickey Mouse fence on it so I (hopefully) didn't screw a high dollar amount of Alaska yellow cedar with wandering router syndrome. Surprisingly, it worked like a charm.

Other than cycling, golf has long been my other passion. I also enjoy reading quality literature and histories. Being in grad school has taken a lot of time out of all these activities unfortunately.

Photography and cameras (just consumer level stuff)
Computers (mainly OSs and programming)
Clothes and accessories (I like going to a store, checking out a garment, and figuring how much it cost, then checking the price tag to see how close I got).
Dm I need a new hobby to add to my portfolio.

I play bass guitar, recently back into it, need to find a band.

Also garden, love cooking, read a bit and hike. XC ski in the winter too.

Other than family (wife, 2 kids 5 and 8 each of whom go to gymnastics, swimming, soccer, and the older one now doing softball)

Fly-fishing...almost exclusively saltwater....much from a kayak..includes fly tying and rod building.
Skiing, both downhill and cross country (skate)

I play a lot of guitar, mainly classical right now but I have over 20 electric guitars. Used to have a band going but it was a lot of drama and classical is so easy to do alone.
I fish, usually fly fishing with a spey rod for steelhead.
I've got two dogs, Ozzy and Venice (and a wife...)

Ozzy is in the picture... Is this too many**********

Only five bikes, including my dads race bike from the early 70's - a Whitcomb. I haven't gone that crazy with bikes yet. Want to buy a guitar?

Some of my more recent hobbies:
Cycling yes, but what in what flavor? I'm shooting for 31 but so far it's been: road racer, charity rides, Ironman triathlete, mountain biking, adventure racer, commuter, bike polo, alleycat racer, fixedgear/singlespeed shenanigans, critical masser, volunteer at a bike co-op, advocacy group board member, event organizer, mutant bike and trailer maker, even human-powered submarine pilot. This year I'm adding touring, randonneuring, paid wrenching, and car free living to the list.

I enjoy most activities that don't involve a ball. Running (especially trail running), swimming (esp. open water), SCUBA, ice skating, downhill and cross country skiing, sailing, canoeing, whitewater kayaking, backpacking, orienteering, climbing, exploring in general, etc. Since I live in a city right now I can't do some of those activities but New Orleans does have a lot of great abandoned buildings to explore which is a fun change of pace.

Non-active stuff I enjoy: sewing, reading, substantive conversations, cooking, computer games, swing dancing and dancing in general, music (listening to and going to shows), helping others, tinkering/inventing/DIY.

I also work as an engineer and attend grad school at night. No family yet.
