Best Midrange Track frame?
My Steamroller was stolen 
but this is now an opportunity (insurance covered most of it) to build something nicer.
I currently have a Mavic Ellipse wheelset.
but this is now an opportunity (insurance covered most of it) to build something nicer.- track or close to track geometry (some velodrome (in NH) but will be my city bike)
- $750 for frame(can go a little more, but less is better)
- Steel
- high bb (i pedal struck several time on the steamroller with 165s)
I currently have a Mavic Ellipse wheelset.

Bob Jackson or Soma Rush. Rush is a nice frame and it's relatively cheap. Put a CF (wound up) fork on it and it will be really smooth, too.

Also, I'm not down w/ Alien b/c it is just basic 4130. I am all about nice tubing. I can really tell a difference. I suggest getting something w/ 631/853 or Tange Prestige or some other good steel.

I was pumped about the Sputnik, but i have heard it has a low BB.
so what i have seen locally (boston) is:
<700
a) soma rush
b) traitor
<800
c) bare knuckle
d) Torelli

e) De Bernardi Thron
f) Geekhouse

Geekhouse is in the $800 range?
At that pricepoint, maybe go with the Rush? No frills, but very lightweight and fun to ride. I don't know. I just feel like the difference between $300 to $800 isn't as much as the difference between $800 and $1300. Of course, you wanted steel, so that kind of makes that a moot point since more expensive track frames are generally not steel unless they are custom/handmade or involve some level of frame-making artistry.

used njs, ride the f-out of it and have money to spare.
i'd pick up a dented one for discount. (most of the dents are from bars, and a lot of the time you'll wrap that spot anyway)

There is a 7-8 week lead time for these...can't do that.
No the Geekhouse in not in that range, but they are a local company that is pushing a lot for boston bike safety and ride-ability, so just keeping the idea there.
Where the heck do i get used njs frames for under $1k? and in my size? I would love this, but just unclear if this is really possible.
