I never got this really, I have nothing against the trick scene, but that always sounds like such an excuse.

I have to laugh at the slim jeans thing. My son at 15 is a BMXer and snowboard park rat. So, June-December he walks around in jeans so tight I worry about his ability to reproduce when that time comes and then December-May he wants to wear clothes that would fall off of me. The only rules I have are that I'll not permit him to wear clothing that show his ass crack (they can be as baggy as he likes but they will set on his hips) and whatever he does with his hair it can't interfere at school. Spike your hair to the moon on weekends but during the week that ratty **** will hang straight down. He's a good kid. Rugby player, above average student and likes math. He's going to turn out just fine.

You're actually agreeing with him, albeit obliquely. The part you're missing is 'to appease other men' means 'to dress in a way that does not signify dressing to accentuate body features, draw extra attention or have decorative purpose'. Because all of those things are for women only in the hetero world.

I could careless if it the "fad" fades away. To be quite honest I hope it does and gets back to being the "uncool" thing again. And quite frankly there are so many people on the road who literally shouldn't be riding a bike, or need to practice in a parking lot before hitting the street, seriously. I work in a city and have noticed more sightings of "fixed" gear riders, and it's scarey how bad their riding skills are. The walking your bike is true and always leaves me flabbergasted?! I don't get it.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't like to leave their bike a couple blocks out of sight. If I'm out shopping with my bike and need to walk a block away, it doesn't always make sense to either 1) ride there or B) have it locked up way out of sight.
