A British blinder ...

A gentleman over there has put together a light that cooks.

No idea if he will ship to the states, but you have to check it out.

Nice. The first light I've seen that comes with an Obscene mode instead of High!

Yeah, in DIY maybe. But this appears to be the first production (albeit small scale) that exceeds 2000 claimed lumens and does not break the bank at a little over $300

Well, he's only claiming 1600 "real" lumens. He says the > 2000 lumens is the theoretical maximum, but 1600 is probably what it's putting out.

That's still monster bright -- and it appears to be a robust design, at least judging from looks.

I like his lights, but the production is very limited right now. I believe he does ship to the US. A kit is also sold through an online vendor, but it's over $300. If I'm going to spend that kind of money, I want a finished product. Otherwise, I'll just tackle my own DIY project. It's too bad the world-wide economy has tanked. In a better economic climate, Troutie might be able to get more investor backing to expand his operations. He seems to have a very good product with QC in place, which is lacking in many products you get from China. I hope his business succeeds and grows.

Troutie is a very well-regarded authority when it comes to bike lights on some of the other lighting forums, like candlepower and MTBR.

It looks like he's expanded his capacity considerably since his first prototypes, but I don't think it's a full time job for him yet.

I like the built in clamp though - quite a nice touch!
