Repainted DeRosa

Curious how much the ding, repaint and internal toptube brake run affects the value. The paint is a really nice dark blue metallic and the toptube was done using a full tube. Thanks.

Tragedy. It is now completely worthless. I can spare you the sorrow, and for a small fee I will take it off your hands.
;-D
If it were my money, I'd feel reassured if you could show before photos, so I could evaluate previous flaws or rust, if any.
But it looks like a great bike, my guess is it may be able to fetch $1200 in my SF Bay Area market.

I had a derosa similarly badged that had the same top tube brake cable run, you sure its aftermarket? The dent would be a turnoff for me but the color is nice and I'd rather a clean looking bike than a worn out factory pain job.

Im not sure at all about the toptube, I’ve never seen one like it before so I figured someone did it before painting it.

Perhaps this bike needs to be posted in the C&V forum. Lots of DeRosa owners and fans there that could confirm whether this top tube routing is original or not. If I were a potential buyer I'd want to know.

...you can ask in the frame builder's forum, to get more informed opinions. But AFAIK, the way those full tube internal routing runs are constructed, it's done prior to the top tube getting brazed into the frame. Pulling a frame apart to add that feature seems like a lot of work.

I have seen these before, but don't have anything other than anecdotal evidence to go by.

The paint looks to be possibly original.

The later De Rosa frames with internal routing are done differently at the entrance and exit, but the orientation is the same I believe your style is called 'French", later there were braze on's.

A competent builder could fill in the dent and match paint reasonably, I would think.

I owned a Primato EL-OS with similar top tube cable ports. Sold to a now essentially departed BF member.

it was from the 1990's

the dent won't cause a failure, not really easy to remove. Turns the bike into a rider.
the seller will always value the bike above a buyer.

BigBossMan is still around, but doesn't ride much any more since he moved to Idaho. He was doing well last I talked to him. The Primato has different cable ports.

I trashed my old images, might have had fittings, it has been a Long time and when they are gone, like previous girlfriends, discard the detailed memories. Mine did have chromed end faces, crown and head lugs.

I have had four Primato's, all had the same fittings, as did BBM's that he bought from you.
