I still have my 1986 Raleigh in original working condition less bar grips. Never ride it anymore but have thought of restoring it and hanging it up just coz it was my first.

I still have my 1989 Trek 'Antelope' 830. I tried to ride it but it's way too small, given that I was 14 when got it and grew at least 4". I can't honestly remember if it's a 15" or 16.5" frame, but it's way too small now.
When a friend or family member needs a bike for a ride, usually just a MUP or gravel road, I offer it up. But most are annoyed by the lack of indexed shifting.
Oh yeah, it also has Suntour's version of Biopace chainrings. You can't hardly tell on the small ring, but it is way noticeable on the big ring.

I don't have my first mountain bike anymore (a 1998 rigid Rockhopper) but I do have my second mountain bike. Its a still very fast Tomac Buckshot scandium hardtail. I'll never sell it.

i made the mistake of selling mine. the only bike i ever regretted selling. a few years later i was able to get it back. the previous owner never rode it. just hung it up in his garage. its not a very comfortable bike just to ride on the streets and i think thats what he wanted. i ended up trading a newer trek lower level mtb. more suited to what he was looking for. i had to replace the forks and cables. couldnt be happier. i see the new mtb's and would like to get one, but when i ride this one on the trails i forget about wanting another one.

My first MTB (a low-end 1994 Scott) was stolen in 1995. However I did recently track down an identical one, which is currently my main rider.

My son still has his first mountain bike - - '99 Trek 830 AL. He let me borrow it for a few years and I upgraded/changed out quite a bit along the way, then gave it back last year.

I still ride this 1988 Nishiki Ariel on gravel MUPS. After years of being out of cycling, I picked this up used along with another bike for my son. Took this one out for one ride in the neighborhood and by the end of that summer I had converted the fork and was riding it on single track. Totally hooked. I keep for sentimental reasons and because I don't want to use one of the other bikes on a MUP, sort of overkill.

Since I just got back into mountain biking back at the beginning of the 2010 model year, I still have it. It is a Hardrock Sport Disc 29-er. I pulled the stock tires off of it and I currently have 700x35c's on it. It will be the bike I use on my BP MS 150 ride this year.
It looks the same, just without the rear rack and the bags. I have also added some Eggbeater 3's.

Actually I am... My first bike was a Specialized Rockhopper (late 80's). I cracked the frame and Spec gave me a replacement frame. I eventually moved on and gave the bike to a friend who gave it to another friend... well the bike came back like a "white elephant" christmas gift. I cleaned it up, added new wheels, gearing etc and now its my commuter bike/night riding bike. I actually love it and forgot how comfortable the frame was. Of course I laugh at the fact when I first got the bike I thought it was a rad mountain bike... all with its 2" travel front fork! It certainly doesn't add up to what I ride now!

My first and only MTB is a Klein from 1990--but I am going to buy a new one in the next few days--most likely a BMC fully suspended--hopefully will give me a more comfortable ride, and make it easier going up the very steep trails with more traction.

I still ride my 1986 Specialized Rockhopper with the kids to the park and around the neighborhood. It's in pretty good shape, Biopace chain rings and all, with Shimano Deore SIS indexed shifters. It never saw much heavy off road use. I bought it in college for riding around Austin, TX.

Owned since new when bought from Bikeology in Santa Monica in early 1986, last year did around 5000 miles, original mechs, only changes have been saddle (S Marco Rolls), mudguard (SKS), tyres (marathon plus front, supreme rear), has since been passed on to son in law. The Tange frame, Araya rims and Shimano Deore components certainly delivered beyond the call of duty. The mechs have a certain orange radioactive glow but are still fine. I put the longevity down to relatively low watt output by the rider although the bike has lived in USA, UK and Ireland and seen its share of snow and salt.

still have and occassionally ride my trek 8000 purchased in 1992. it was fully rigid until about 10 years ago when i put a good front fork on it. last summer i put the original rigid stock fork back on it. took it to the trails and got rattled to death. used it some for paved and smooth trails (with skinnyer smooth tires). a couple months ago i put the off road tires back on and the front shock on. it does not get much use since i have a stumpjumper frs expert (purchased in 2006) and a new Giant 29'er. i may end up selling the old trek but it has sentimental value. cracked several ribs on that bike

I still have my Trek 800, the frame at least, which was my first real mountain bike. It's actually set up as a ski bike right now. I wish I had my second bike too, which was my first race bike and more sentimental, but it was stolen.

Yes. Although never a serious MTB person, I still ride this '87 High Sierra around town as a SS.

Still have an old huffy from the late 80's when I first started MTB. It has seen better days and I plan on restoring it this summer. Still ride my 95 Trek almost daily.
