Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Sounds like it's time for you to pin a number on and stop the MUP racing.

If I made a thread about everyone I passed, the front page would be filled 24/7 with my cool stories.

Or maybe he was just slow, nothing wrong with that.

Last year when out riding with a friend in the Pennines (hilly area of the uk) I was completely destroyed by a guy on an orange 5 mountain bike up a 5% 3 mile climb.

I ride a BMC slr01 by the way, love it and am glad i can afford to ride such a nice bike so slowly :-)

Well done on winning by the way, I'll bet the grand kids are / will be proud

Ha ha ha, given the flood of snarky post, there's a mob of butthurt lamer Fred-Kooks riding out there in full recovery mode. Mid-Life roadie crisis is teh worst.

Don't you live in a country that is 100% flat? Go climb in the pyrenees or something and get back to me.

He didn't tell us if he had his clip on aero bars on the bike or not.

Unless he was racing, there's no way he could match your speed! And don't forget to give him "the look" next time.

We used to have these threads a lot in the old days.

Good times.

Tell the truth: you were in full kit yourself, with an aero helmet and had deep aero wheels on your hybrid. or a disc wheel. With aero bars. And "click" pedals.

Perhaps a 'skinsuit'?? That might explain it.
Actually, I'm surprised the op didn't claim to be towing a Tag-Along at the time.
