Bad pics and no info - can you identify this Peugeot?

Is that an ideale saddle? Anyway looks like it might be quality but frankly the pugs all look the same to me until I can see it in person. Worth a drive?

I think it's definitely worth looking at, judging from the forged and chromed Simplex rear dropout we see in the pics. Forged and not stamped dropouts usually means it's one of the better models in Peugeot's lineup back then. All metal simplex derailleur is also a good sign.
Try to get more pics to show us so 60's/70's Peugeot experts in this forum can give you more information on the bike.

It appears to be a late 1970s Peugeot PX10. There's Reynolds decals on the down tube and fork and they appear to be the standard 531 butted decals. THe stay and fork tips are chromed. It appears that it may even have the OEM tubular wheelset.

How long of a drive? If the seller is asking $100 and it is 30 min or so away it might be worth it. But if you have to drive an hour and haggle at a starting price of $300 maybe not. I am not sure where you are but here in Central Pa it looks and feels like snow is coming so odds are the bike isn't going anywhere too fast, ask the seller for more pics.

Chombi if that is a Simplex dropout that means the stop for the deraileur is at the 4 oclock position rather than the normal 6ish? That would pretty much limit it to Simplex RDs only? They were talking about this on CR last week, there is a way to put a different RD on but it isn't easy to find right?

In general, if a Peugeot is old and has chrome socks front and rear plus quality dropouts, I would be in the car.

Note what appears to be a blurry Reynolds decal on the fork.

So I got the bike. Paid asking - 100 bucks. It is all original I think - not sure about the campy FD, this must have been a replacement? Otherwise everything seems to match up with a 75 PX10 according to my perfunctory google research. The wheels are tubular.

What should I do with this bike? I'm probably not going to keep it. Is it worth new cables/housing, tires, tape, pads before a resale?

That's a serious score at $100.

Depends how much work you want to put in relative to what you want out of it. Around here (in season) you could put it up as-found and get $300-400. It looks pretty clean so with a basic overhaul (hubs, BB, headest greased), cables, housing, bar tape, etc you could probably get $500-600 or more. Personally I would be cleaning it up, the bike certainly deserves it. I would leave the original tires on though and let the buyer decide whether they want to run tubulars or not. No sense putting $100 worth of tires on it if they are just going to sit and never get used.

Then there is always the question of putting it on ebay or not. Certainly I think you will get more money, but of course there is more hassle and fees involved. And you have to ship it.

What size is it, and where are you located?

Appears to be no smaller than 54 cm though I haven't measured it.

The problem with ebay is I don't have an established account with feedback. I'm in NY, I spend a good amount of time in NYC although I don't live there, but enough to put it up in that market which seems to bring higher prices.

Fortunately you are in a good market. In most markets, its hard to get anything close to ebay pricing for that bike. I would clean it up really well, don't use anything abrasive, and sell it in the spring. Pick up a deal on white bar tape, and I would do that. Bike will look 100% better with fresh bar tape and cleaned.

A more thorough rehab will bring more $$, but you need to have the tools/time/aptitude to do that work. If not, you will not get an adequate return out of the extra work.

If by 'more thorough' you mean stripping it down and regreasing everything, polishing all parts, etc I have the tools and stuff to do that, including the SL crank puller. I was thinking more like how much should I invest in it before selling...so maybe I won't get new tubulars, but then again if I am selling it in person rather than on ebay it would probably pay to have it in test ride shape. Specifically, the questions that come to mind are:

1. Should I search for the correct FD to get it complete original or just leave it as is with the campy?
2. Replace the saddle (original or whatever's around for cheap?) or try to bring what remains of the leather back to life and market it as 'patina'?
3. replace the original housing (not cracked or torn anywhere) or make it white as possible and leave it?

Also, since I can only really achieve one kind of polished finish with my know-how and that is a highly polished 'mirror' look, not sure if that would be correct for this bike on anything but the chrome socks. So maybe I am over thinking it but for me that raises the question:

4. Polish everything to a high polish or just wipe it clean? I have access to an ultrasonic cleaner for the small parts.

Yes I would replace all the housings and cables.

I would polish everything well.

I would not spend money on a replacement FD.

I would revive saddle as best as I could. I would not find a cheap replacement, unless you can find something really good cheap, then sure.

I pretty much always use the ultrasonic on small dirty parts, and a small OA bath for any rusty fasteners.

Are the tires somewhat presentable? Will they hold air? Tubulars aren't cheap unless you just happen to have some laying around.
