You're so fit...so has anyone mistaken your age?
I've had it both ways. This summer, I was buying some used furniture, and the seller said, "let me give an old guy a hand" He was in his late 40's. I asked,"just how old do I look?" "Old", came the reply. I sighed.
Today, at the gym I was waiting for the weight bench. There were some teens using it and they were taking a long time. Finally I asked in a polite manner if I could do a quick set.
They were good kids and very respectful "Sure, you wanna just use what we're using?" They were dead
I looked at the bar. It had 300 pounds on it.
That gave me a laugh.

I used to mentor in a group that trained for and ran half marathons with at risk and delinquent youth. Estimates of my age were all over the place. Couldn't win for losing.

Pretty typically, people underestimate my age at about 10 years less than it is. On our recent vacation, we did a lot of hiking and snorkeling, and we were pretty much the oldest people in the group, and got surprised looks when the age subject came up.
Cycling certainly helps, as does avoiding bad habits (smoking and excessive drinking, for example). I think genetics is huge too. Some people just age faster.
But it's more about how you feel than how you look.

I don't ask random strangers about how old I look and I also don't go around bragging and boasting about how fit I am for my age. Now if somebody just comes up and complements me on my fitness I can accept that, but I don't go out purposely fishing for complements.

Experts I've read appear to think 85% lifestyle and 15% genetics for speed of ageing. So it's mostly down to our own life choices. Regular exercise appears to be the most effective way to slow ageing. More effective than any known medicine or supplement.

When going for fitness rides on chilly damp autumnal days, I greatly prefer to go with age stealth technology. And a warm wig.

I really appreciate the gentle way you mentioned "excessive drinking" not even defining what this exactly means . IMHO, two drinks per day should be ok, if that helps relaxing and improves well-being. If somebody can abstain that is even better.
Genetics? Yes. We have locally family going from 80+, ~50 and teenagers, and they all, all generations, win or are in the top of the local runs and ironman competitions.
And yes, looking young has advantages and appeals to human vanity, but FEELING young is so much more important than a few extra wrinkles here and there.

No they haven't.
However since many of the things doctors use to measure ones health, HR, BP, general strength and reflexes are so good, they fail to take me seriously when I tell them I feel so lousy.

My wife and I were riding bikes last Fall when some young adults yelled out, "Good going! You're an inspiration!" Ugh. That unkempt white hair, or what's left of the comb-over hanging past the helmet is a dead giveaway,

Once you're in your mid '80s+, everybody looks old. But, I have had some folks at the swimming pool who would not believe I was in my '80s. What a compliment. I claim they have poor eyesight. But, later on, I find they thought I was in my 90s.

I'm early 60's, very lean and fit, good skin too if I don't mind saying so. But I'm bald and have a grey almost white beard, sometimes a pretty big beard. So I think it's pretty hard to tell for most folks, but ya never know. I asked my 18 year old son if he thought the beard made me look older, and he said "it doesn't really make any difference"
