finally found a merckx
i've always wanted a steel merckx, but i found this titanium one instead. feel like i got a pretty good deal though. dont really care for the blue, saddle or stem. soon to be replaced. and eventually swapping the dura-ace for campy.

What a tasty looking Merckx Ti, not one usually seem much. I think the Campy build should be nice to ride, looking forward to a build and eventually a ride report. Semper Fi.

I wouldn't be in any great rush to lose that DA btw.
Performance is solid.
Decals look different than my AX. Maybe a refinish?
Doesn't matter much though, as Cyclomondo has a replacement set if you want to go down that road.
Less than $50.

no ride report until tomorrow. i'm at work today, so its gonna get a good cleaning. Grady i think you are right on the decals. the letters might be a cheap replacement. they are to thick. are yours a thinner decal? and before anyone mentions it, i know the brakes are open. i'm in the process of cleaning the bike. i know how you eagle eyes are.

I'm also curious why you're into switching out to Campy but regardless I'd be interested in those brakes should you not need them.

I'm just a campy fan and it seems like a merckx should have campy. But I'm in no hurry to change. If the dura ace performs well I will probably keep it.

I'm a Campy fan, too, and a bit of an anti-Shimano bigot, too, but Dura Ace is as well made as anything ever made. You'd be switching only for emotional reasons, not functional reasons. It will outlive you, so replacing it before you're dead is premature.
But if this is something to own just for the sake of it, then toss your money by switching to Campy. Hey, maybe you can even make a profit on it. Sell the Dura Ace parts one-by-one on ebay. Buy a complete group from Ribble, who sell Campy stuff at surprisingly low prices. If I were able to do that, I would seriously consider it. You could even break even before all the Dura Ace stuff is gone.

Eddy obviously rode Campagnolo during his riding career, and he spec'd them on his production bikes for the first few years - but sometime in the mid-to-late 80s, he went whole-heartedly with Shimano. Pretty sure the 7-11 bikes were Shimano, and the Motorola bikes for sure. I wonder what Eddy rides today?
Trying to remember if the EM Ti frames were actually made here in the states - by Merlin? Anyway, congrats on that beauty.

I had always heard that they were built by Litespeed. Being from Chattanooga (same as Litespeed), this is one of the bikes on my list of want to owns.

yep, sticker on seattube reads, designed by eddy, built by litespeed, few years ago i sold my litespeed and have regretted it ever since. so i killed 2 birds with one bike. getting a merckx and a litespeed.

Hmm, My TiAx looks totally different.
I found it on CL last fall wearing 6400, after debating putting 9s Veloce on it, I decided to put 7700/7800 parts on it a couple of weeks back. I've been riding it a lot lately.

Well, since we are sharing pictures.... I stupidly sold this last summer because I needed the loot and was riding my cross bikes 99% of the time anyway. Still miss it though...
They are MUCH happier when wearing Campy, FWIW.
