How long is your commute? 50 km a day
New to this forum and just wanted to know how long everyone is commuting. I am doing currently approx 25km there and back to work. So approx 50 km a day on 90% path. Just wondering if i'm crazy or is other people doing similar distances? I plan to do this through the winter too with a winter beater and fat bike when the snow is high. Currently still getting by on my road bike until the snow flies.
Thanks for you input.

50 miles/day
Morning route is 20 miles, 50% path to road ratio
Evening route is 30 miles, 90% path, limited use of roads.

I don't think that's too extreme. Mine's 20 km each way on mostly side streets and secondary roads. But I do 130-150%+ of that distance a few times a week.

I think it varies for different people. Most common distances are less than 10 miles each way.
For me, I'm essentially non-driving. I don't ride every day, but trips to town would vary from about 20 miles RT for the shortest to 50 miles RT for the longest. Frequently pulling a trailer.

LET'S ROLL
Used to commute 16 miles each way. Now I moved closer to my job.
15 minute walk/5 minute cycling. I just walk.

17.7 miles (28.49 km) each way, winding through a neighborhood then bike path. Due to the neighborhood (stops, etc) it took me 1hr 22m this morning. I may have to drive to the bike path and therefore reduce it to 1 hr each way to make it feasible.

WOW, 50KM & 50Miles for some... JMO but that's just out there... (I was going to say crazy) but... It's out there, in both time and effort. I can see doing it with an E-Assist bike but really? Depending on hills and wind that's just way too much for me....

Up until I quit a month ago, I was commuting 32 miles by bike daily, four days a week. Flat, good roads. That's only 120 miles a week and there are lots of people I know on Strava who cycling 200+ miles per week and include mountain rides. It took me some time to work my way up to that.

My minimum is 10 miles each way, usually add miles to bring it to 12 to 15 miles. I try to commute 4 days a week, weather allowing (the wife has asked me to not ride home on Fridays because of the traffic).

I ride about 47 km RT 3 days a week (28 miles RT). The only reason I don't do it 5 days a week is because of time constraints.

Hey thanks guys for all the replies. I'll keep at it until its too dangerous / inconvenient. It certainly beats traffic and annoying drivers and saves me on gas $.

My commute is a similar distance. It was too much for me to ride everyday. I alternate between riding to and from work. Takes me about 1.5 hours to ride 25 km on my hilly commute. I'm considering converting my bike to e-assist so that I can ride more often.

My commute is about 31 miles round trip, which coincidentally works out to 50K a day. I usually bike commute 3-4 days/week year-round, depending on the weather.

About the same as you 50 km RT. I go longer routes with longer summer days.
About 70% to 90% on limestone / gravel paths. I do the commute with a cyclocross bike.

Usually 35 miles each way; 24 hour shift, so only once a day, 2 times a week.

Mine varies day to day. Many days it's 5 to 10 miles RT all on side paths and cycletracks and depending on what I want for lunch. I'll do this all year unless it's below about +10f.
Once or twice a week it's 12 - 15 miles RT in to downtown which is maybe 60% path and 40% road. I rarely do this during winter since generally I don't ride on roads after the first snow until spring though some years with little snow we might get a period where the roads dry out enough for me.
I've had some 50 mile days if meeting schedule and weather allow.
This is all on a Workcycles Opafiets wearing normal clothes (typically jeans, oxford shirt, sport coat, etc.)

a measly 2.2 miles to work, 3 going home. I will sometimes turn that 3 into 40, 60, etc... 2.2 is nice and convenient though. I usually put do a ride in the morning, shower at home, then just ride the 2.2 to work.
