does this have any value at all? In my mind I was thinking it was in a lot better condition. I bought it new but it has been hanging in my shed since the mid 1990's. looks like mr. corrosion found it.

how about these wheels? built in the mid 80's with specialized hubs they literally probably have about 100 miles on them. I would not trust the tires but in the day they were the best.

I have seem much worse.....much of the corrosion on the trim will clean up nicely. Give it a good cleaning and service and it's a 250 to 350 bike. of course it will cost you a few dollars for consumables....too bad it's not a 3R!
Best, Ben

I am pretty sure one of my cycling buddies would be interested in buying the bike if you want to sell it. We are a bunch of guys who rode together in the 80's and a few of them had the same bike back then. I rode a 1983 Trek 760 back in the 80's and still have that bike. My buddies rode 80's Bianchi, Gios, Rauler and Specialized Allez SE's.

Some collector will want those Criterium Setas for a display bike.

It's basically the American Flyer. It's most similiar to the one the younger brother rode in the big race scenes in the movie. It's looks like the parts are all original, fluted sakae seatpost, Specialized stem, headset, saddle, cranks wheels....Superbe group and brakes? It looks like it would clean up pretty good but does need some work. Is it a 54cm? If you just want it gone, I'd think you could get 200 in that condition. You would from me (but I already have one.)

Given rust, I think $200 is about right. In pristine condition, could be $400 +. Bought and sold a pristine one a couple of months ago.

You will get more action if you put it in the for sale section at 200.00, here is the link...don't forget to add in shipping to the cost, I am certain it will sell there.

I did post it over there. I took a minute and wiped it down with a cloth and spray wax and it actually looked better than I thought.

I think $200 as is fine but with the great info you got hear in the current tough market maybe $300 if key components rear freewheel shifter shifters are good and brakes are good as is. Also the red Specialized American flyer themed bikes have good value end models $300-400 with top end examples going for +1000 plus online.

everything is in good working condition I am sure cables need replacing and brakes need adjusting and new pads as they are probably hard as a rock. everything spins smooth. I put the price at $250 plus shipping. thanks for the information.

I could be misinformed but the only SE's that I have seen that brought 800-1000 were built by 3rensho and had the 3r fork.....see attached.
As far as I can tell from the photos the OP's fork is different.

Note the slight offset. at the rear.
Best, Ben

If no one here buys it, clean it better, use wadded-up tin foil and water on the chrome bits (not steel wool) for rust removal and take better photos.....outside in the sun.
post it on craigslist it should sell at 250-225.
best, ben

P.S. I would not use any of the before pictures in your add

$1000+ is also typical for excellent, unmolested David Tesch-built Team Allez bikes as well. I've never seen a run-of-the-mill SE go for anything close to that, no matter the condition.

I forgot about that one.....OP's bike is not anyone of these and setting an expectation of a 1000 was optimistic.

The Superbe bits are a lot of the value. Are those Aero Compe levers?

Were the Specialized hubs made by the same manufacturer as the Sun Tour hubs?

Hey! So, from what I read on this and other forums, what I have is a 3Rensho. Bought the frame in an East Texas shop in the 80s and we built it out with Campy. I'd like to post some pictures but I guess I need to post 10 times... I'll see if it works
