Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Got some of that yesterday, rubbed some into the leather chamois's that I have and they felt 200% better. Will try it on the torino pad next time they get washed. Thanks for the advice.

It finally arrived!
First ride was today in new fallen snow, what a blast!
I'm battling a bad sinus infection so kept it to just 5 miles, can't wait until I am feeling better and can take this up into the foothills and mountains. My Specialized Fat Boy Expert. Just 31.2 pounds.

I love how MTBs, & fat bikes have found their way into the 41 lately.
Wow Spesh is getting in the Fat bike market...
31.2lbs is not too bad either. How much did this cost you?

I think Harley Davidson should sue Specialized for using the name Fat boy for a model. HD's have had Fat boys around for a long time.
Who knows maybe Spesh trademarked Fat boy too now.

$2600 USD + tax. Extremely limited first shipment, sold out for quite a while I have been told.
I purchased some gear from Cafe' Roubaix to offset the bad karma.

Thats on par with the other fat bike prices.
What material is the frame made from?

Does Café Roubaix offer lightweight fat bike wheel set?
You coild bring that bad boy down to 27-28 lbs easy.

+1 - SRAM Groupsets are an additional 12.5% off. Shimano is 10% off. I just ordered Force 22 for $800 shipped. I think Ultegra 6800 is around $700.

I don't think so, I ordered clothing from him. The stock Spec wheels are very light for being alloy.

It's already been done by another guy and I am planning a similar setup.
Tubeless conversion (the tubes are very heavy) and a carbon riser bar to start. Once I am used to the bike I will switch to clipless pedals, then a carbon post and crank arms if my budget allows and the weight savings vs. cost math works for me. I have a new 650B MTB build looming this spring so I don't want to blow my budget on this bicycle. It sure was a blast to ride around in the fresh snow we got today. :-)

I ran into a guy out in the Virginia countryside doing 60+ road miles on a fat boy last summer, that qualifies it as a road bike as far as I'm concerned.... especially for 41 purposes....

I just picked up a new saddle, a Fizik 2013 Arione CX K:ium for less than $93 BNIB! Could not resist at that price which is over $50 cheaper than the cheapest I could find.

They're good, I like the compression and they're comfortable, though I have only worn them twice (125mi and 156mi rides) in the week I've had them in not so ideal situations. Perhaps I'll be able to form a better opinion after I do a normal 2-3 hour day in them.

Just ordered a pair of GP4000s' from PBK, ended up being $32.50 CDN each shipped. I missed their 10% for 2 tires sale, but found a 15% off coupon to go with the already on sale tires. Works out well as the stores here sell them for $69 per tire.

Next on the list is the race licence, once the OCA decides to add the 2014 forms/info to their site.

Just bought a Ritchey Logic II handlebar, on clearance for about 65% off retail from Performance Bike (store, not online). Thought what the hell...

A thumbs-up vote here for BDop Cycling on their Offset Brake Pad Holders. A bit expensive according to my budget, but it was worth it.

Wilko Pressure Sprayer 8L so I can wash my bike at home as I dont have a hosepipe connection and I dont want to leave it outside unattended while I have to go inside to change water etc.

They don't have microfiber towels and spray polish where you live?

LOL! Actually car wash and wax is better and way less expensive than bike boutique polishes and washes if you really want to go cheap...and better actually! I just wash my bikes with a car wash concentrate and a microfiber towel, rinse with a garden hose on the soft setting (too much pressure could flush dirt and water past seals), wax the bike with a non abrasive high quality wax like Meguiars NXT Generation Tech Wax liquid (paste takes too long to apply and spray on is watered down) and another microfiber towel to polish. With my titanium bike I do if completely different, the wash is the same but, according to Adrenalin Bikes and Lynskey, I wipe down the bike with a rag dampened with WD40 which removes the splotches that nude ti is known for, then let it dry for a few hours, then apply Pledge...not sure why Pledge vs automotive wax was recommended, I just do what they recommended.
