My Walmart custom sidewalk cruiser is done!
Its done! Well mostly, I am not sure if I am going to add a front fender or not.
This started out as a walmart bike https://www.walmart.com/.../Genesis-29-Onex.../16203481
I installed an Eagle two speed internal kickback hub
new seat
saddlebags and luggage rack
new kickstand
new pedals.
Monark springer front fork
new stem
Shimano Alfine Dynamo front hub
head and tail lights
New rims and spokes.
rearview mirror and bike bell.
I might be missing something
What do you guys think?

One time I put a Sach’s and XTR drivetrain, Avid Tri Align brakes/levers, a noleen shock, nuke proof/mavic 217/ti dye wheels, and a few other sweet things.
After all that, it was still my old ProFlex and it still sucked.
Hopefully the results are better in cruiser world than mid 90’s MTB land.

I wanted a bike that fitted me and this was one of the few I could find that was not crazy expensive (I am 6'7 and most bikes are way too small for me.)
I replaced the seat because I wanted a more comfortable seat, I picked that one because it fit the look I was going for.
I replaced the back hub because hills suck for a one speed so I wanted an extra gear for hills.
I replaced the front hub because I needed lights for night rides and thought dynamo hubs are cool
and so on. I am just improving basic functions or changing stuff for looks, I am still going to ride it slowly down sidewalks and quiet side streets, improving performance was never really the goal

It is a new company who is making Bendix Clones
https://www.bicycleretailer.com/prod...b#.YhhIAC-B1qs
The hub alone without a wheel build costs more than the actual bike but in the end it all looks decent so at least some though went into it.
I really want to get one of those hubs though and build a clunker at some point but I don't have any fun places like Mt. Tam nor any blue jeans and jean jackets to go riding in like all the cool kids such as Repack Rider but they are neat hubs and the story is cool and I love Merry Sales, such friendly people and a cool family company (sad to see John Porter has passed)

One of those saddlebags will hold a big-ass lock. Somebody would like to swipe it. Provided they don't see you climb off and leave it unattended.

Looks good! If it were mine, I’d go with smooth polished fenders front and rear. You could easily mount a front fender using the star nut method I mentioned in your other thread. I’d go with a fender that doesn’t extend very far out the front to eliminate the need for a front support, and mount the rear support arm off the fixed fork. If the suspension causes the fender support to loosen, you can isolate it with a plastic washer. Fork travel is typically adjusted with a nut at the spring crown and although those springer type forks don’t usually offer much travel, you can adjust it to eliminate potential tire rubbing issues. Check out Honjo fenders in polished or black, or Velo-Orange might have something as well.

Sharp looking bike. Good job personalizing it to make it yours.

I will never complain again about the weight of my 29er knowing you are pushing 60+ lbs.

Maybe I'm a little OCD, but I can't stand seeing a bike with only one fender. Even so, it is still very cool!

Beautiful job! What's your impression of the fork as it relates to strength? I've always liked the looks of springers, but have shied away from them. Thanks in advance.

Something about that bike makes me think "retired secret ninja assassin." That's a good thing, I think.

yeah the fork is 95% about looks, I ride it on sidewalks so not much need for shock absorption. This is going to used mostly for riding up to the local bar for lunch and cruises up to the park.
