Hey guys,

its my first post on the forum... found myself always coming here for answers.

If you ladies and gentlemen would be so kind to help me identify a Bianchi bicycle I'm thinking about purchasing on craigslist.

The information I do know: Suntour 7000 components, Campagnolo Omega wheelset, 1982 year, Celeste paint.

please see the below photos to help me out! is this worth purchasing?
The guy has some strange handlebar/brakes setup but I was thinking of slapping on my 3TTT handlebars with first gen dura ace brake levers and calipers.

any insight would be helpful... thank you!

See pics below.

That is an '88 Campione de Italia with a Columbus for Bianchi Formula 2 frame and the mentioned mix of components, and a rather tall looking one. They were an OK midlevel bike retailing around $600. a good basic bike for a beginning racer or just a hard core recreational club rider.

Considering the lousy job someone did on the bars/brakelevers/hoods and all the surface rust on the front end I would not go much over $250ish.

thank you very much for the insight.
the bike is priced at $285.

my plan is to use the frame, forks, and wheel set-
the rust on the headset and brake calipers is ok because i'm going to replace them anyways.

do you think a celeste campione de italia and campagnolo omega wheels is worth $285??

thanks a lot for your input, i really appreciate it.

I think what Thrifty Bill was getting at is you want to very careful about buying anything at any price from someone who does such an incredibly bad job putting together a bike and then says "Here, come buy this bike at the higher of this model's value!" If you absolutely need to have one just like this, it may be your only chance to get one. If you're shopping for value, probably keep shopping.

I would not get close to $250 if for no reason other than the person selling it is a hack and I wouldn't want to risk funding any further projects. How long has it been listed? I would spend some time insulting him and his bike and then offer him $150 see what happens.
