2023/24 Edition of indoor cycling setups

time to start afresh.

my daughter took a job in Idaho and left me this room. gone is the little spitfire (not gone really, just lonely in the garage now). much warmer when i start but having some second thoughts now. seems a bit warmer than i'd like. worried about the room smelling like a gym.

i plan on lowering the tv and putting the fan above more like what i had in the garage, and get something to put the keyboard and mouse on. but so far not too bad. i keep the iwndow open when i ride.

I should take a picture of mine just to make everyone feel better about theirs.

My setup is new but the bike and trainer aren't. I decided to move it all up to our third floor "playroom" that is rather large but otherwise depressing. It still has piles of stuffed animals in it and my twins are now 27!

The table is from my niece when she left it here for brief storage and then didn't want it back, the Macbook Air is an M1 with a cracked screen from my daughter, The Dell 27" 4k monitor I just bought so I could use the MBA which was otherwise unusable. The speakers I made myself a few years ago, a pair each for the twins and neither want them now. I also have my own pair that I had in my office before I retired. One thing I like about this setup is that I can reach the keyboard and keep pedaling and also the volume on the speakers. I'm going to put a reachable switch on that fan too as it is cold to start but then you warm up. Anyway...

This was still up on my computer this morning and I thought the picture was kind of fuzzy so I looked at the original in Photos. It definitely lost resolution in the translation.

The basement rig. The bike is a pile of cast offs, except the 2 x 10 sp DT shifters and my standard saddle. Campy Power torque BB & crankset was super cheap (the worst BB spec ever), Centurion Sport DLX frame (heavy with an unpleasant geometry), etc.

Playing around with new setup but I think this is the keeper. Tacx Neo 2T using the Tacx Training App that is installed on a Beelink mini PC (partially hidden at the top of the tv). A Lasko fan hooked up to a smart switch and controlled by Alexa. I just spent yesterday hiding the wires of the tv behind the wall for that nice clean look. The RAD desk completes the package.

If I could figure out how to take a picture I bet I could win redneckiest setup. The difficulty is that my screen is my phone, which is also my camera. It would be better if the screen wasn't badly cracked.

This is the mini workout gym in my house. My wife uses the treadmill year-round. I use the permanently mounted Orbea with Rouvy running on the TV mostly during the cold-weather months.

Back in the garage. at least for a week. My daughter is visiting from Idaho for a week and i'm kicked out. not so bad really. almost considering staying. question for those who ride regularly in the house...does your ride area smell like a gym? finding that i am sweating far more indoors than in the garage, not a surprise really. i open the window, have the heater vent closed but still i wonder...

I just did a little refresh of my guest bedroom. It's my home office/trainer room/indoor gym space.
