Bridgestone MB1?
Saw this ad on CL. Is this a 1989 Bridgestone MB1? I have a 1986 Diamondback Acent I converted to a touring bike. It's bombproof, but really heavy. I was wondering if this frame would be any lighter than my DB. If it's the right size of course...

It's highway robbery at $75. Yes it's a light frame.

Get the bike now, get information later! That’s what I say!

I also have an '86 DB Ascent and I can verify that it's porky. Buy the MB-1 even though as a race bike it will have fewer braze-ons for racks and fenders.

Thanks, I emailed the seller to ask frame size and haven't got a reply. Hopefully it's because he's at work and not wading through a barrage of emails....

Your email should have read: "Hello, I'd like to buy the Bridgestone you advertised. When's the soonest time I can swing by and pick it up? I arrive on time and pay in cash."

Probably so. I'm second in line to go look at it. I'd expect it'll be sold before I look. The guy selling it doesn't know what he has.

+1 @mtnbud This is a small frame, btw. What size is your Diamondback? While you are waiting we can help you make an educated guess whether the Bridgestone is close to what you need or not.

Apparently you didn't either or you wouldn't have wasted time posting here about it. Deals like that can be timed with an egg-timer.
Better luck next time and for a sale like that, use Clang's approach. Worst case if it doesn't fit you it'll fit a friend.

I'd like to replace the frame on my DB Ascent to something lighter. The bike was a likely candidate. I did a quick search on the MB1, but did get much details about the frame. I assume it's a double butted alloy. Tange? True Temper? I'm pretty clueless about frames, but knew it was likely a good candidate to upgrade my touring bike conversion. If there's another chance, I'll have to jump on it faster.

True. I was pretty sure it was a MB1 from the paint scheme. I remembered reading they had a pretty good frame.

Thought I'd update: I just saw that MB1 back on Craigslist listed at $500. I'm a little surprised the seller didn't put in many details on the bike. He said the frame was Tange - didn't mention Tange Prestige. Funny enough he only included one picture and it's of the non-drivetrain side and no mention of what components are on it
