My bike keeps getting faster and faster
I have been losing weight using a low calorie diet, and cycling for exercise. I have now lost 25 kg or 55 pounds. My bike keeps getting faster and faster.
I expected in the early days when I built up muscle mass, I would get faster. I also expected to go faster up hill with less fat. But there is more to it. It seems the body uses a lot of resources just maintaining the fat. As you lose the fat, those resources can be used for the muscles. So it is easier to go faster just riding on flat ground. Then there is endurance. I have more energy at the end of the ride than I used to. I also recover quicker after I have pushed myself to fatigue.
I like to encourage other fat challenged people to put in the effort. It will be worth it.

Kudos to you. That is a lot of weight to drop. I hope you keep the motivation to lose more if you need or wish to, and to keep it off.

Congratulations on the weight loss -- and the increasing fitness.
The bike riding human is a system composed of lungs, diaphragm, heart, blood vessels, and muscles.
The more you ride, the stronger and more efficient each component gets. So you go faster, and farther.

After the weight loss, the OP can run less pressure in his tires. Which means less rolling resistance. That's probably it. However, he should be slower since he lost the advantage of an aero gut.

Many people who have known me for some time have noticed my weight loss and commented. My belly sags a little, which can look worse to people who have not known me. But my health has improved.
If someone says something funny I sometimes laugh. When I do my belly goes up and down. To some people that is funnier than what started them laughing.
We all need a good sense of humor.

<sarc on> +1 for it's the chain lube. The chain lube made riding easier, faster and helped you lose weight. </sarc off>
The main reason for your weight loss though is your will to persevere through the initial pain and continue on despite everything else. Good on you, Alo!

Funny how bikes do that! I think that as we get fitter and show improvement, that our bikes get faster just to show us that we aren't the only one capable of improving. Way to go!!

What about bones, cartilage, tendons, and ligaments for structural support? And then there's the central nervous system, which includes sensory inputs (touch, hearing/balance, sight) to make everything run. And what about the endocrine system (pituitary, adrenals, and the like) to give chemical signals during stress? Of course, one cannot neglect the renal part of the circulatory system, else blood volume and composition would be imbalanced. Speaking of blood composition, what about toxin filtering? So there's the liver … but, it also accomplishes glycogenesis, needed for blood energy. And speaking of digestion, what about the large intestine for water absorption and the small intestine for nutrient absorption?

Congrats on you major weight loss!!! I have been biking for a little over a year now ( try to bike 3 to 7 days a week, strava says 7500 miles since last april ). My flat speeds are a lot faster. My uphills not so much.
I think I am about at 5lbs weight loss which I am good with.
