Show us the bikes you bought this summer!
In the spirit of n + 1, let’s see what your summer 2023 acquisitions have been. Here are mine:
Got this one this morning (perhaps the last summer purchase?): Shogun 1500 tourer. CL seller reported that he bought it complete and stripped most of the parts for his mountain bike. Original 27” wheels are in excellent shape:
Low-end Italian (or at least the CL seller bought it new in Italy) city bike. Needed a rear wheel rebuild, tires, a rear derailleur, freewheel, and a thumb shifter to replace the awful Shimano 6-speed grip shifter:
1983 Trek 560 set up as a hip fixie:
I got this Legnano frame in a trade for a set of handlebars and a stem:
Set it up with upright bars and thumb shifters:
All of the bikes above were or will be built with what I have in the parts bin, so it’s a good thing to clear space. I then either give them away to colleagues or to a local organization who fixes up bikes for recent immigrants to the Boston area.
Not all of my summer purchases have been altruistic. This Brother Cycles Mr. Wooden arrived from the UK in June and then a week or so later carried me on a 5-day tour from DC to Pittsburgh on the C&O Canal towpath/GAP trail:

Nierner and Shawn,
I was beginning to think that I that I had a problem with buying bikes and needed to slow the pace....I have done so for quite a while, but after seeing this, I can see that I was wrong!
I am going to see what is on CL and OU.
Many Thanks, for the inspiration, Ben

2 Summer acquisitions.
#1 an Erickson titanium bike with S&S Couplers. Came with a soft case. Equipped with Campagnolo 10-speed, including triple crank. Research indicates frame was constructed by Kent Eriksen Cycles in Colorado. Circa 2007.
#2 was a flipper - Gitane Super Olympic circa 1975 with many very nice Campagnolo components, uncommon SunTour Superbe Tech rear derailleur and nice Shimano triple cranks. Mostly passed on by now.

I went to the Monroe Michigan swap meet vowing to not buy any bikes. We know how that often turns out…

Wasn't shopping, kinda like stray cats.
Saved from the dump.
Snagged by a cousin at a tag sale for ten dollars.

No bikes for me this summer, as I need to make some room first. Just bought a few parts for planned projects.
So, this Huissoon frame is actually just a display stand for the Daytona group I bought. Really.
But since it is my size I couldn't resist a spin around the block, and gee, Columbus Max is not bad. Not bad at all ...

5 projects off the ground
I picked up a '73 Sekine SHR for $20 for the velo cheapie contest. I sunk around $15 into the bike to get it fully operational. I picked up a 15 and 1/2 inch Trek 900 that I fixed up for a friend who needed a small bike and a 58 cm Miyata 310 for my nephew. I somehow managed to avoid buying anything for me this year but I did get two projects off the ground, a 1970s Raleigh Gran Sport and a 1980 Raleigh Record Act (a UK model not sold in the US).
I am impressed by how nicely the Sekine rides particularly given that it has steel wheels. The Raleigh Record Ace, though, is a serious long-term keeper. It has remarkable amounts of clearance as it came stock with 27 inch wheels and fenders. Eventually I'll get around to installing 700c wheels and Tektro R559 brakes. This bike is a fine long-distance machine.

Those are vintage gumwall Tioga City Slickers. So far they are holding up but it doesn't get any real hard usage.

I haven't purchased a bike in a few years except this Bridgestone T700. I put in a crazy bid of $21 at a local estate/auction site not expecting to even come close to the selling price. There was one other person bidding and I ended up winning it for $11. It was way too small for me and my daughter decided she didn't need another bike so I passed it on. It was in near perfect condition.
I am currently selling off most of my bikes. I am in N-10 mode.

Only thing I have bought In a few years. I turned my Univega mountain bike into a Cruiser so I picked up this Specialized Hardrock I think it's a 97. I didn't have a saddle bag for tire repair yet so I was using the top tube bag I've got in under seat bag now

I've acquired far too many, although this may have been my best pickup yet. Still has the original tires, although they're completely shot.
