As is often the case, I woke up at 0349, one minute before alarm went off. By 0415 I was on my GG and off for a relaxing 1 hour-15 mile ride. Had a beautiful show off to the south. Towering clouds with amazing bolts of lightning illuminating the sky. Having some breakfast right now then off for a 30 miler with a couple of friends as long as the rain stays away.

Did my longest ride ever, at 139 miles. Rode out the door, out to Harpers Ferry on the VA side of the Potomac, and back through Maryland. I got an early start, so I had lights on, but still managed to run into a tree that had blown down in yesterday's storm. Fortunately the bike wasn't damaged, but I did bung up my knee a little.

Morning-23 miles with my wife, the last 10 or so with our daughter's Special Olympics training group. Afternoon-34 miles of high altitude climbing (9500 to over 12,000, twice) with youngest son who was on a 25lb steel framed bike, wearing tennis shoes, and proving once again that there are some major advantages to having 20 year old legs.

Just got back from adding another 27 miles today but rained on twice. The liquid sunshine sure does make a mess of things.

37 miles this morning, just beating the rain to the parking lot. Today's ride got me over my goal of 4,000 YTD miles in a six month period. I have to update the Pedal My Ride stats as it only takes whole miles and that throws off the total after several entries. My spreadsheet shows 4,026.4 miles YTD.

46 miles with just a bit of climbing, 'bout 2200'. Finished at 10:30 before things got too warm, probably 80degF when I got off the bike.

1757 miles, 1hr 56min. Okay, would you believe 25.5? The upper clouds showed us a rainbow while we ate lunch. Not a raindrop in sight. I'd call this a sunbow.

100 km today. Mostly trails, some MUP and some road. The wind was a bear at times, gusts up to around 30 mph. At least it was fairly cool!

Ten miles this evening. Wanted to ride more today - and yesterday - but rain kept getting in the way.

Had a quick 15 mile ride in the early afternoon, looked like a shower was coming in. None ever came and the ride was first class, 95°F out on the road and the usual humidity for the Central Gulf Coast.

did you ride today

50 miles this early morning. My "standard" 25 mile loop x 2. Started at 5:30...gorgeous morning on the coast, a lot of salmon boats over the bar in ocean. 1800 feet of climb. Pretty flat here. Wind came up by 8:30 @ 12-15 out of NW.

About 60 miles from Otis Orchards east of Spokane through the "Bowl and Pitcher" park, with some hills, west of Spokane and back in the 90 deg. F. heat. I did stop at Riverfront park for rice cakes and cold water on the way out and again for raisins and cold water on the way back. I'm not doing it as froggy as I did at 50 but I'm still doing it.

As of right now, rain, rain and more rain to start the second half of 2013. Four inches overnight and more coming. Seeing surgeon in 1 hour for post operation visit and will find out if triathlon training can resume. Hoping to get back on the road bikes.

OTG,
Best of luck with the surgeon's release to ride, that is always a good feeling when they say to go ahead and ride to your heart's content.

Of course, sometimes cool is good. Be thankful. When it starts hot it can't get any cooler!
