Finally showing the Moser Leader AX
Picked this up a few months ago and since I was messing with it I grabbed some shots with the P&S. Was originally thinking swapping on some silver rim wheels and then white bar tape (current needs replacing) and a white saddle. But I may just leave it pretty much as is. Basically a Dura Ace 7700 groupset on a nicely repainted frame. No rides on this one yet. 19.5 lbs as in the pics. I'll do a proper photoshoot once I have it all done and when most of the yard is not under 2 feet of snow.

Very nice choice James Dak I almost bought one but the frame which was described as 56 was more like a 58 and the whole frame set was slightly heavier than a columbus genius or ultrafoco or dedacciai dr zero . The finish of the fillet brazing is absolutely stunning and the dura ace 7700 groupset is the perfect choice.

A couple of years ago in a conversation with the guys from Red Rose Imports (the former importers) I was told that they *still* received inquiries as to whether they had any remaining Leader AXs… They have a dedicated cult-like following.

How does the seatpost work?

Gorgeous bike! Those aren’t 7700 hubs are they? I’ve never seen a 7700 with the “bulge” near the right rear flange.

Those would be 7400/7403 front/rear hubs from the 8 speed days. The rear hub would have to be the 7403 UG/HG combination freehub body that could take 8, 9 or 10 speed cassettes. A Uniglide 8 could be fitted using the small threaded cog or Hyperglide 8, 9 or 10 speed cassettes with a modern type HG lockring.

Just a little update. I did ride this one two days ago finally, the maiden voyage. It did quite well and I posted my second fastest pace of the year on it for the 26 mile ride. Felt pretty good under me for most of the ride only getting a bit harsh in the front over the roughest sections of bad chipseal.
I've always been seeing this one with silver polished wheels so this morning for fun I put on the new Ritchey Zeta Classics I just got in. They were listed at 1440 grams but every review I saw had them heavier. I got 1587 on my scale without skewers. Still, on this bike with the Veloflex Evo 700 x 25 tires and latex tubes they did drop 3 ozs off the bike. But, the front just barely clears and is too close even for me. So I'll be running a 23 in front with a 25 rear once the new tires get in.
The overall look is what I've envisioned on this one. I just need to decide on what brake levers and the rewrap the bars with white and it will be done for now. Since I really do dig the silver wheels I think I'm going to use my available Dura Ace 7700 hubs to get new wheels built for this. Thinking polished silver Velocity Fusions on both ends or maybe make it look even racier with a Deep V on the back. Decisions, decisions, decisions.....
Once the Trek 5200 sells I'll use that money for the new wheelset. I'll use the same guy that built the beauties on the Krapf bike.

Yes, Greg told me that the best Mosers are Leader AX, TK0 and TK1.(Don't know why he didn't mention the Evolution Ti).
