I don’t see how that Paramount gets close to $900. Feels like $700 on the high side or maybe as low as $500 for a bargain price. It is a looker for sure.

I don’t have access to the original Facebook market listing, but If the paint and decals are original, that is a 91 Waterford Paramount. In 91 the standard tubed Paramounts were Columbus, and the OS models were True Temper, for what that’s worth.
I paid 300 for my frame off eBay a few year back, and easily stuck another grand into it. Worth every penny!

That is not a Series Paramount, so that chart does not apply. The description of the tubing that is found under "PDG in Waterford" is the one that applies. Waterford used a proprietary tubing made by True Temper. The bike in question is hand built. It is not one of the Asian production line bikes.

Worth $900? Not in most markets. Offer $400? Move on, forget it. Don't insult seller or waste your time. You clearly would prefer something more modern. No problem here. Hand built bikes like this Waterford tend to be priced higher than the factory made brands. Some put a premium on hand made in the US by an appreciated brand like Waterford. Others could care less.

Many younger riders want no part of down tube shifters.

I would agree with wrk101 that you should probably move on if your just looking for a nice used road bike to ride there's are lot of nice stuff out there for less that don't carry the Paramount hand built premium.

I understand. I guess there's an aesthetic issue that people here just like irrespective of actual ride quality. Maybe I'll take a look at it just to see what the fuss is about.

Just last weekend I bought a 1992 Paramount PDG Series 3 (blue w/ red speckles) in perfect condition, upgraded with Shimano 600 components including brifters, all for $200. I think it was an absolute steal at that price!

Watching the road bike market, it seems like there's hardly any demand for anything resembling a traditional / classic / steel frame w/ rim brake bike.
Several beautiful road bikes at great prices ($250 ~ $400) just sitting for sale for months in the C&V section classifieds.
My guess is the post-pandemic bike glut, along with saturated demand during the pandemic, and I already got a TREK420 (low end w/ good tire clearance), a Schwinn Super Le Tour 12.2 (low end and under rated w/ good tire clearance) , a Miyata OneThousand (canti brake tourer), and my neo-nuvo-retro GUNNAR - just no demand despite the inherit (inherent ? ) value.

Yup, and there was a time, not do long ago when asking prices for biles lile the not so rare 70's Peugoet PX10s were asking for over $1K (Even 1.2K aftually wasn't unusual to see jack then.) at the auction markets. Prices on most C&V bikes have pretty much, permanently cratered, after the retro/vintage bike craze faded away when the millennials and Gen Xers seemed to had eventually grown out of them......
Now, us older C&Gers can just look at our once highly priced bikes and just let out a sigh or two to reminisc sbout their golden days.....
