Those oversized 'super cool, stylish' cycling sunglasses. dont get it
Just curious, what is it about those oversized 'stylish' cycling sunglasses a lot of people wear? mostly roadie folks. i dont get it. to me, they look ridiculous and trying to be WAY too cool. am i the only one in thinking this?

We need some specific examples to see what you are considering to be oversized. I use larger sunglasses for road so that the top edge doesn't block my view when I'm down on the drops. My mtb glasses are smaller and the top rim gets in the way for road use. So it's all about your position on the bike and fashion trends.

First it was their saddles are too high, they do it to look cool. Now triggered by sunglasses.

They are modified goggles, and they keep uv, sun light, debris, and wind off your eyes. Ride long and fast and you will understand.

I use a wider than normal pair of sunglasses but I like it keeps bugs and dust and wind out of my eyeballs. It's not about the looks it's about function...maybe explains why I drive a minivan.

How many watts at 45kph do they save? How many seconds on a 35k TT?

I have Rosacea and it bothers my eyes; specifically it makes them really sensitive to wind. Either I wear big sunglasses, or I don't ride at all.
When it's dark out I wear clear safety glasses. Handy in case I need to operate any power tools afterward.

I don't have any really big lensed glasses that I ride with. But when I use the more normal size lenses, sweat getting in my eyes seems to be more of an issue for me than when I wear my sunglasses with a shorter height lenses.
