1984 Trek 520 worth flipping??

Hey there,

Might* have an opportunity to pick up a Trek 520 for, at most, $150. Anyone think this is worth flipping? It looks like it's in pretty good condition but would like to get some opinions first.

Sincerely,

Justin

Yes.

I saw that bike too and if it is still available (and isn't rusted to bits) then go buy it!!

I would have bought that already if it was in my hood. I have flipped a couple of 420's and a couple of 720's and in SoCal when somebody that is looking for a vintage Trek tourer and finds it in their size they REALLY want it.
Perhaps the same is true up there but you might have to wait a few months to get full value. Maybe that is why we can still see the ad since it's slow season for sales.

Small frame = possible premium value for the smaller rider when he/she finds it.

I paid $150 for a 1984 Trek 520 I flipped. Worked out well. Touring bikes bring a premium. Small frames bring an additional premium above that (mine was a large frame). I would be in my car picking that bike up right now!

I just bought a 84 Trek 520 with a ton of extras for 150. About a week and a half later someone on the street offered 300 for it without any of the extras. I'd say, depending on the condition, it should be a good buy.
