Good Condition Peugeot
Dear Friends,
I came across with this ad, and think the bike is in good condition.
The seller does not know the year and type - if anyone knows can you please tell what this is ?
He asks 200 USD for this.
Thank you very much in advance.

Oof...
That is a low-end Peugeot from the mid to late 80's. Someone else may have the exact model.
Note:
That bike could make a good solid commuter that could last for many years.
However, I would not consider it to be a collector bike.
The actual value will depend on the person and the local market. I could imagine seeing that bike advertised for $200, but it woudn't be on my buy list at that price.

Note:
- Pressed steel rear dropout (cheap)
- Steel rims (cheap)
- Bolt on wheels
- Steel Handlebars
- Cottered Crankset decades after they've fallen out of favor.
- Pressed steel spider on the crankset.
- Steel Front and rear derailleurs.
. - TIG welded frame. This isn't a bad thing per-se, but it helps date the frame to the mid to late 80's.

Yeah, looks like about 1987. Rear derailleur seems crusty, needs bar tape. Can't tell about the tires. In that shape maybe 100-125.

You should be able to spot what makes this a cheap bike: steel rims, steel handlebars, steel seat post, cottered crank, stamped drop outs, claw rear derailleur.

This seems to be an odd bike. I have a feeling the down-tube shifters and brake levers were replacements. Low-end Peugeots from this era usually had stem shifters.

The steel wheels and cottered crank is a deal killer. Not worth asking price. Would be a nice bike to convert to upright handlebars & turn into a grocery getter. But for that, it would have to be closer to $50 for me to buy it.

^^^^^ I agree. In my area $50, and it is internally brazed.

Thanks for the construction notes. I had wondered why the joints appeared smooth. Still, an odd choice... at least in hindsight.
