A "RAD" Repair Stand deal...

My son turned me on to this after he got one for himself.

I did a bit of research and noticed that the Road Bike Boyz had been talking about them as well.

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...e-repair-stand

I thought I'd drop it here just in case anyone was interested.

I JUST put mine together and DANG... it meets my needs. Pretty heavy duty construction (@17 lbs) and certainly suitable for occasional repair needs and (in my case) a good place to store this occasionally ridden "wall-hanger" pictured.

At only $39 bucks (shipped), you can't go wrong IMO!

Here's the link to where it's available and also an Amazon review page.

It looks like the price jumped to $50+shipping on buy.com and $55 with free ship on amazon.

I'd be wary of that clamp design. It should be ok for occasional use, but that spring loaded lever will probably break sooner than later. I had a Performance brand stand with a clamp like that, and it lasted 3 months.

I'm seeing a delivered price of $63.40, which isn't a bad deal, but $39 would be better. Thx for posting.

Hey, that's a nice deal if it's even a mediocre stand. The tool tray is a nice feature, too. I finally got myself a used Park repair stand, but it took months of searching CL, plus various google alerts, etc. Good deals on used repair stands are hard to come by, and CL ads for decent repair stands are gone in a blink.

I'm in the market for a repair stand as well. While checking the RAD you referenced on Amazon, this one popped up:[h=1]Adventure Jones Pro Series Bicycle Repair Stand with Tool Tray B2

[/h]Anyone familiar with this stand?

Spend the extra bucks on a Feedback Pro Elite or Sprint (fork mount) and be done with it.

Speaking of Repar Stands...

THIS is interesting. It's a fork / frame mount style, but I can't attest to it's quality. Looks rather "cheap" though.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/RAD-Cycle-Pr...item43b18ffb7c

$32.97 w/free shipping.

Interesting as well, but add $9.99 for shipping that unit.

Also brought to my attention by my son (don't you HATE when they are right! ) is that the Amazon review link that I posted is for another model RAD Stand with a fold-up base design and not as beefy as the one discussed here. This is fine w/me, as the style I have will go flush up against a wall, which is perfect for storing a bike.

Another angle...

It has to be better than the POS I bought from Performance, which is now held together with duct tape and cable ties.

That one looks identical to the one I got for $39 shipped, minus some soft slide-on clamp protective pieces included w/mine.

This looks identical to the one I got for around 40 bucks shipped off ebay, except mine was a workbench mounted stand. I hate it. I thought it would be useful as a small-time / low-duty (change a tire here and there) stand but it doesn't even work well as that. After I had two bikes in the stand the blue plastic grips started falling off and I keep trying different kinds of glue to get them to stick back on. You cant really clamp the bike down hard enough for it to stay still enough to work on and the arm on the mount doesnt extend far enough from the bench to clear the pedals in any configuration. Mayhaps the fold-up stands are beefier, but just passing along my experience.

This isn't a "fold-up" BASE design configuration. It's a permanent assembly (off-set) wall hugging unit, which is a style I personally prefer. And it is VERY sturdy. The clamp arm doesn't telescope in / out, but is in a fixed (but rotatable / adjustable in an arc) position far enough away from the main mast to allow for full cycle pedal rotation clearance. You'll be happy.

I just purchased one also. Thanks very much Maxturbo.

After making the purchase, a recommended item was the RAD bike trainer for $69.99, original price listed as $249.95:

https://www.buy.com/prod/rad-cycle-bi...225809373.html

Anyone have any experience with this trainer???

The trainer review numbers and write-ups are pretty decent.

Overall Rating: 4.5 out of 5

Based on those and if the construction quality is similar to their Repair Stands, I'd give em' a shot IF I was in the need.

There are some Flea-Bay sales examples too...

I see that the stand price went back up.

Any of the new buyers receive theirs yet?

I'm curious to hear what you think.

For a few dollars more (sometimes a few dollars less), I have picked up some really nice stands used. The other great thing about Park stands (used of course), is parts are readily available, and bought used, they hold their value extremely well (I've upgraded stands over the years).

On trainers, I've found a lot of them used. They are out there, people get into and out of bicycling all the time, purging stands, trainers, and of course, bikes.

The one I ordered just arrived last evening. I didn't get a chance to take it out of the box yet, but hope to this weekend. When I do, I'll report back. Thanks again for the link.

Looks like the price adjusts with the different sales that Buy.com has. I'd guess that it goes back to the $39.99 price again sometime soon.
