Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

The possible GA one might have been closer to me.

Well I didn't get out at first light. I forgot I had critters and a wife to feed, and make coffee for (the wife, not the critters. My wife has just taken up coffee in the last few weeks; she began as a social drinker and then observed how much more productive it made her). I got going at 6:30 though. I stopped and moved a puppy off the road. It had a broken leg. I checked on it on the return trip, and it was on death's doorstep. Sad. But at least it was quick; it didn't live to starve to death. And was probably still in shock.

Scott posted more pics from Saturday. This was the deepest crossing and we had to cross it twice. On the way back down I didn't slow enough and got one foot a little wet. It did rinse some of the caked on mud off the bike, though.

Possibly the best cycling statue ever, at the top of the Taaienberg climb in Flanders.

Speeding up and rockin' the Flying W through the water is the only way!

That crossing is notorious for getting slimy when the algae starts growing. There is even a warning sign about algae.

btw, the flying W that I'm familiar with looks more like this.

That's the only thing I could think of to call it. Reverse Flying W, maybe

Another high speed pursuit just ended. This one featured a stolen Sheriff dep't cruiser with speeds over 120 mph. The female suspect drove into a rental yard and finally got blocked in. The officer who blocked the front forgot to put his car in park and it rolled away with him chasing it trying to get in.

6 days ago a similar thing happened when a Highway Patrol cruiser was stolen. It's happened before. I don't understand why they don't take the key or fob when they leave the car.
