1988 Waterford Paramount Build
I recently picked up a beautiful 88 paramount frame from another CV member sjpitts. I'd been looking for a paramount in my size for a while, and the plan was to sit on frame until an inexpensive donor bike came up on local CL. Both fortunately and unfortunately (for my bike fund anyway) that donor appeared pretty much right after the frame arrived. The bike I came accross had a full 1999 campy record group as well as few other nice bits. I put it all together yesterday and have to say it rides beautifully. Future changes will probably include new rim to match either the blue or silver ones currently on there, and maybe a different seatpost, although I do like how the easton matches the brifters. Anyway, hope you all enjoy.

You're going to love this. My '89 is fantastic, quite unlike any other bike I've ever ridden.

That's a real looker.
I have a friend that has a Waterford, and I am so impressed with the ride.
You did a great job with the build as well.
Way to source the gruppo.
Enjoy.

Wow! Very nice. This is making me excited to get started on my 1990 Paramount OS.

Thanks for all the nice comments guys, going to take it on a climb tomorrow morning so will report back on the ride, have been very pleased with the few short jaunts I've done so far though.
As for whether it's a 50th anniversary or not Stausty I can't really say. The frame does have pearl paint but I was told it was refinished in waterford somewhere down the line. One thing I did find interesting is that the schwinn catalog for 88 said a paramount of this size would be made with columbus SL/SP. However when I was taking a look at the frame it appears to be SLX, or at least the tubes I could feel from the bottom bracket were all splined.

Interesting. The seller who sold it to me said it was SLX/SPX (and he had bought it new), but I recall thinking it was SL/SP based on the size and year. I think maybe Scooper on this forum told me that it was it would have been. He is the resident expert. I never checked the tubing myself.
My wife has a smaller 54cm that should have been SLX. But I haven't checked that one either. I think this one is just a few months newer.

You have to be blessed by the VBGs (Vintage Bike Gods) in order to land a sweet Paramount, or a Raleigh Professional in good shape and right size..
The VBGs smiled on you well.. Super find...
