Dating my Colnago Super
Curious what date my Super is. I’m guessing late 70’s with the single bottle cage and over the
bottom bracket guides. Thanks

I would say 1979 or so . I’m not sure when they started the embossing of the seat stay caps.

In 1978 the super added the panto on the seat-stays. In 1981, they switched from over the BB cable routing to under the BB routing. You bike is somewhere in between there!
Handsome frame too!!

It’s fairly well documented the seat stay caps with the Colnago name, came out 1980-ish.
Good looking bike!

Had a '79 of which I thought was pretty cool square brake bridge mount. Though the chainstay bridge hadn't yet changed to the spool type vs the small tube (as the OP bike depicts). Meh, whatever... what's a year or two going to matter?

Velo-Retro: Colnago Super Timeline
Colnago was not like the US car companies and had model years that were released in September.
remember “Chevy Week?”
I would dart toss as later 1979 to 1980.

I like the decal design much better than that of "83. Looks a bit more elegant..

That makes sense , much more economical. Trek was doing the same thing at about that time , I think. Also , Masi / Medici lugs were being cast , if I remember right.

was after the 1983 Masi lug redesign that Masi USA would use seat stay plugs.
of interest to some, the Masi USA investment cast seat lug required the seat binder ears to be drilled and spot bored after brazing. The Medici seat lug had the seat binder ears with the hole cast in place.

When did colnago go to the all-chrome fork? My 1980 Super has all-chrome, my “before 1980” Super is painted, with Portacatena derailleur hanger,,,

(Fun with the thread title.) My Mooney is 1979. We are married (he wears a gold wedding band) but I never dated him. Pete. (Yes I know that sounds odd or kinky but we have always kept separate beds.)
And seriously; that wedding band. TiCycles put it on, a brass band around the DT between the WB bosses to hold the derailleur cables off the paint between the top mounted DT shifters and the under the BB cable guides. Bike wore braided Turk's head rings for 25 years before to do the same. Since the bike is running fix gear now, it's just a shiny wedding ring. (We have shared a roof for almost 45 years.)

I need some help dating my newly aquired Colnago Super Track bike. I am thinking 1974? but I could just be guessing here.
Clover cut out in bottom head lug only
Flat Chrome fork crown with the large "C" with a Clover inside
No tangs on the inside of the fork blades
Club Cut out in the bottom bracket
The fork crown does not have the two points on the outsides, rather one longer point
Plain seat stay caps, no logo
I tried attaching photos but I can't seem to get it to work.

It sounds like it is pre-‘75 and later than early seventies due to no club cut out on seat lug. Your 1974 evaluation would be right , given the details. My 1975 Super has Colnago under the C on the fork crown , also club cut outs in the fork stiffeners inside the fork. Like merziac said , pictures are always appreciated.
