How much is a Specialized Hardrock AX worth?
It was my dads bike and when he passed away, it became mine. He probably bought it new because I remember him using it some 15 years ago. So, how much is it worth today? I read in a few places that they are a bit rare. I was thinking $200 was a solid asking price, very light bike. I have another bike that I want to replace it with, I've used it many times and I think it's time someone else had their fun on it.

Post some detailed photos.
Same spec as a Trek 830, worth about $75 in avg. condition to us horse traders.

Though I am sure our situations are different, I give Hard Rocks away to Bicycles for Humanity but my situation is quite different from most.
Refurbished, in my area, the a Hard Rock will fetch between $75 and $100 although we did sell a mint early nineties one for $150.00 last Fall. The value of your vintage bicycle, however, will be a reflection of the market strength (in your area), coupled with your marketing skills and both coupled with the bicycle itslef (size, mechanical and cosmetic condition).
I am not saying that your bike is worth seventy five to a hundred bucks. The best way for you to determine a fair price to ask is to look through Craigslist for your area, consider what identical or very similar bikes are selling for, and then price yours accordingly.

Rule #1 of older bikes: just because nobody is posting about them online doesn't necessarily mean they're rare, 99% of the time it's because they're nothing memorable.

I appreciate some of the comments but demand is quite high around here so getting anything less than $140 I wouldn't allow. I've sold much worse bikes for $100. Most MTN bikes I get a chance to pick up are much heavier than my old Hardrock. You guys must live in some interesting areas if I bike like this would go for $100! But again, thanks for the insight.

Thank you for your sarcasm. I couldn't find anything for $40. I've sold many bikes and I came on here to see if what I was asking for was reasonable or not. To be specific, I live in Isla Vista where students are willing to pay more for decent bikes. Crappy Huffy Kmart cruisers (new for $120) can be resold for $100... The bikes you reference could be sold for more but are priced low for faster sale.
