Anyone see this ad? Does this accurately describe how serious you are?

You guys do realize that you all (those offended) have inferred that sex part right? They could have easily had a guy and a dog, or horse, or added a cat to any of those images. I'm not sure the problem is really with the ad/image. Your sensitivity is silly. I'll bet those family stickers on the back of mini vans keep you up nights. LMAO.

Well, those persons in the ad do appear to all be naked, so I believe, deep in my heart, that their intention is to have sex and that, therefore, such an inference would be valid. I mean, all they lack are martinis in hand.

Exactly. They should be ashamed not because they actually insulted anyone, but because they intended to be insulting in such a childish way. 'Funny' is not a redeeming quality. Nobody needs such garbage.

I'm confused. I thought the ad's message was Shimano riders are posers just trying to get women but SRAM riders earn the respect of their peers.

It interesting to see the diversion of attitudes in this thread regarding the humor, or lack thereof, in the ad. It is just a reenactment of something that is at least 2500 years old. The Ancient Greeks--Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, and others--thought that at base, humor was a kind of abuse. Ironically, though I think that might be true in the shorter or more immediate term, to stifle humor leads to more pernicious effects in the longer term. I think Umberto Eco would agree with that. But, what do I know? I'm no serious cyclist or anything like that.
Speaking of cycling, I better hit the road!

I'm not an overly sensitive type and can withstand some offensive material if it is funny and makes a point (i.e. Blazing Saddles movie). However, this ad does not seem very funny and still manages to be offensive (i.e. almost every Adam Sandler movie).

Get a grip. The ad is insensitive at best and hateful at worst. This isn't the 1950s anymore.

Agree... Adam Sandler movies suck. Mike Judge directed movies like Office Space and Idiocracy are much funnier and make better points than any Adam Sandler movie. Even the cheesy Hangover movies are funnier than anything Sandler.

Shooter: "You're in big trouble, pal. I eat pieces of **** like you for breakfast."
Happy [incredulous]: "You eat **** for breakfast?!"

That's the same excuse that's been used for hundreds of years for "we groups" to justify demeaning "they groups" with "jokes". How do you know it's not hurtful? Unless you can walk in their shoes how the hell do YOU know how hurtful it is? You mean to tell me you have never witnessed "jokes" be hurtful to people? Where have you been all your life, in Shangri-La?

This is so so mild. The intent was only to advertise Wofltooth components as 'cool' in a creative way. The sub context of the Sram joke was likely just an after thought that just worked with the available imagery to make it abit more entertaining. And it clearly worked. or either the maker plotted for weeks how to destroy the feelings of the whole LBGT community in one crushing decisive blow. But i see the former being the truth. Do you really think the maker gave any thought to any social consequences or backlash at all from this ? i highly doubt it.
I have no idea who or what you are defending btw. Your's and others exaggerated outrage in this thread is truely farcical.
Carry on.

Let's see, could it be how it's rather misogynistic and homophobic? I just don't see much humor in that anymore. It's juvenile and a lazy way to try to sell something.
Not to mention that women ride bikes too. I don't see ads like this being in good taste or positive toward the growth of the sport as a whole.
But hey, if you find it so charming, go buy their stuff. I'm not stopping you.
