DSC00576..jpgDSC00572..jpgDSC00577..jpgDSC00567..jpgTotal novice here about vintage bikes.
However here is what I picked up today. I believe it is a 1982 Schwinn Super Sport SP. It has been repainted and redacaled and has no head badge. Not sure what the rims are but front and rear hubs are Campy, Head set is campy, cranks and chain rings are campy, rear free wheel is Campy. Tires are Conti Ultra 700 X 25 that will need to be replaced in a month or two . Rear dropouts have adjustment screws to help keep the wheel straight. Shifters have been converted to Sun-tour Bar ends. This bike has all of the eyelets for front and rear racks. Bar tape is brand new. Front and rear dérailleur (sp) are campy. Front chain rings are 28/39/56 I believe the rear is 14/28. The bike came with SPD pedals All of the components are highly polished and show little or no ware. Paint is in excellent condition. I paid 225 dollars for the bike
What have I got**********??

I picked up these two at a charity bike swap recently for $40 each.
Nishiki Competition
46/52 by 34/14 gearing seemed unusual to me.
Sun Tour derailleurs and ratchet bar end shifters.
Sanwa 215 in very nice shape. Lugged 4130 chrome moly frame.

Haven't been looking for bikes but took a few orders so will be looking for some suitable rides for people... upgraded a Jeunet mixte at the bike co-op today with a Suntour GT rear d figuring it's new owner would not appreciate the like new Huret Svelto it had as much as I will... and it will be a cool teaching aid when I do workshops.
Nothing special... made in the millions... but a very cool piece of cycling history.

Got this at a yardsale for $100 yesterday. Bought it on a whim since I needed a polo bike but now that I'm researching it I dont think that'll be its fate.
It's a Rocky Mountain Blizzard frame (1992 I think?) with a Rock Shox Mag 21 fork. It has a Shimano Deore XT drivetrain, Syncros stem and bars, and handbuilt wheels with Wolber AT-18 rims. Can anyone give me an idea of value?

Picked up a mid 80s Ross Gran Tour at a garage sale this weekend. I loved everything I saw about it except some dreaded rust on the top tube. I got my $40 worth from the new Panaracers and everything else (cannondale panniers, zefal frame pump, seatbag, shimano altus derailers and shifters, new brake pads, blackburn rack, and planet bike seat) are all gravy. Question now is how to remedy the top tube. Ishiwata 024 tubing too

Found this one at the flea market this morning. Absolutely stunning condition!! I put wrap on it, tires and tubes, and is for sale already. Looks like it was bought, brought home, and put in the garage or a back bedroom for 15 years. I was looking for cash, and don't have a respectable group to upgrade it, so it's up for grabs Gorgeous though, I wish all of my finds were in this condition.,,,,BD

Angle grinder with a 3M surface conditioning disc, 400 grit wet sanding with soapy water to feather the edges. Then primer, duplicolor paint and clear. They have about 3-4 shades of charcoal grey. I could have that thing looking fresh in about 2-3 hours.,,,,BD

For about $1000.00
It is way too nice for bike polo.

I tested the Svelto while it was still on the bike and it did work nicely on a 14-28 freewheel... it cleaned up really nicely and there is no discernible wear or play in the pivots so I am guessing it has seen little to no use.
A fellow I know told me today that he has a Huret touring derailleur to give me, said it had some massive cog capacity... thinking that it won't be a Jubilee but might be something in the way of a New Success touring version.
I have some Sachs Huret half ratchet shifters that could use a matching deraileur...

The Chrome drops make me wonder if it isn't a Voyager though.
80's catalogs if you have not found them yet.

A good day at a yard sale. The only thing missing is the bottom half of the chain guard.
Anyone have any idea where one might find one ?

PICT0212..jpgPICT0209..jpgPICT0210..jpgMy best-ever find bike-exchange find--1983 (I think) Lotus Classique. Clean as a whistle and in perfect shape save for a busted flange on the rear hub. Find a replacement hub, rebuild the wheel, and I'm good to go...

Here's my ride. Got it at a Pawn Shop. I love this bike. It's a 1986 Nishiki Olympic and was made by Giant. I just put new tires and cables on it as well as cross levers.

Local CL score.. Centurion built Diamondback DBVenture, tange infinity, shimano exage components, biopace triple and more befitting than some of the other bikes i've been riding. And FWIW I payed $50. Rides pretty nice, I intent to tear it down and give everything a good regreasing, but I'm in dire need of different saddle.
Also recently scored a free shogun 300 in not-so-great shape, I'll snap some pictures of that when I get a chance.

Tonights find is this GT mountain bike, came with spare parts and spare frame, not sure how old it is but it still rides nice, the price was the best part about it!.
