My typical 40 mile ride in hot and humid weather. My riding buddy must have had a bad morning as he was really having issues keeping up. Lots of slowdowns waiting for him to catch up.

I can take hot and humid, no problem....but dodging storms is something that I haven't yet mastered here in FL.

25.9 miles (41.7k). Been wearing long sleeved jerseys the past two days. Long winter, strange summer. But I have a nice smile

84F with 75% humidity at 1:54AM for my start time today. ANOTHER YUCK but oh so quiet!!!! Wanted to stop back at house after a brief warm up and wound up hitting the BIG GREEN garbage container as I turned into the driveway. Mile 12.92 at 15.5mph and right bar clipped container with left side hard on concrete. Glad helmet was on since it took a good lick. After collecting my thoughts, a couple of band-aids and helmet check it was time to get going again. Was ticked at my stupid error so wound up adding 102.28 additional miles before more carefully turning back into driveway again.

p.s.-just registered for Clermont Horrible Hundred

No chance after work, so more Stairs at the gym. Gosh, we've had a lot of weather lately! Like OldTryGuy, I signed up for the Horrible Hundred in Clermont in November. I have great hills to practice on at my VA home, so hoping to get in a few good weeks of BlueRidge hills before now and the event.

Got to work this morning and saw on the news that it's 92% humidity this morning. No wonder I looked like I had gone swimming!

Well, you probably would not have wanted to do my ride today as we had to outrun the rain on our last 7 miles getting back to the vehicles.

Very nice ride with the guys today. Came out of the small, city park heading back to the west parking lot of Flatwoods and all we could see was a solid wall of rain. At that point, we had only felt a few drops so we decided to put beat feet back to the east parking lot and try and outrun the rain. Well, we did and also opted to skip the service road that would have given us two more miles. Of course when we got to the east parking lot, the sun was out, the skies were blue and not a drop of rain. Ended up with 58 out of the 60 scheduled miles.

Very hot and yucky, it rained for about a quarter of the 43 mile excursion. I mentioned the heat doesn't really bother me, but I definitely noticed an uptick (excuse the pun) in my HR at cruising speed in this heat. Almost 150 bpm at 19-21mph. So I backed it down a bit. We live in a new neighborhood, and as I pulled in a guy on a Domane SLR 7 happened by. I hung with him for a few more miles as we chatted a bit. He has small kids, so can't do long rides, unfortunately.

About 20 miles each day yesterday and today to and from work. Feeling more like summer - very humid in the morning and hot/humid in the late afternoon. But it sure beats Winter!

15 miles Wednesday evening. Supposedly just an easy ride but sprinted on a few segments just to see how it felt. Beat my best time on a mile long 1% grade that usually defies my efforts to improve. Tonight I beat my best time by 2 mph. And I didn't feel particularly strong. And I'm still 0.7 mph from Lance Armstrong's time on that segment. But I doubt Lance was even trying hard. The KOM on that segment is 28 mph. My best time is just shy of 19 mph.

I'm gonna chalk it up to higher tire pressure and a slight tailwind, maybe 1-5 mph. But I had nothing left in the tank for a hilly 2.5 mile loop that also kicks my butt routinely.

Three solid days of sweet spot training. Rode the old fixed gear into work today in order to do some short hard hill intervals at lunch. #traininglikeits1975

Very steamy ride this morning. Got to the park at 7:10 am and it was already like a sauna. Got in a nice 42 miles on today's ride. Had to make up the 2 miles I missed on yesterday's ride.

Had a good ride today on my Xootr Swift folder. I took it (in the back of my car) to a village in the northern fells of Cumbria (northern England) not far from my home and did some riding. With over 1000 feet of climbing I was glad of my double chain wheel and low gears. The small chain wheel and large rear cog spent so much time chained to each other I think they are now engaged to be married!

The photo of the bike against the sign post shows a view back down to my home in Carlisle. In the far distance is Scotland across the Solway Firth. Another picture, along side some sheep, shows the typical countryside heading towards the English Lake District just a few miles down hill from where the pic was taken. You can just see the road I climbed up in the distance on the right of the photo. It was clear blue sky and sunshine but with a breeze to keep things interesting. I was glad to have the wind on my back riding up the climbs. Temperature was 66f - 19c.

The Xootr performed well - much better than my 66 year old legs!

Thanks for the pictures Paul. Beautiful country. It's as close as I'm likely to get to the land of my ancestors. The trouble with being a Scot, I'm too cheap to spend the money to go there

26.8 miles (43.1k). I found another effect of auto-immune disease—intermittent memory malfunction. I rode 3 miles from home before I realized I forgot the patch kit and lock, something I check everyday before the ride. IMM. Had to ride back thru the street construction (single lane, no bike lane) to retrieve said memory malfunction items. The only place where I lock the bike and walk away is at the Senior Center for lunch. The bike rack is set well back next to the building away from the street and I don't think any of the 80-90 year olds are going to steal my bike

First ride began at 12:15AM, 81F and 89% humidity. Managed to ride in a few areas where the temp. actually dropped a few degrees and as a result it felt nippy. Took things easy since I still planned on another segment after completing this ride. Wanted to be back before 6:30AM and managed to due so with some time to spare. 102 miles for 1st segment.

Second ride began at 8:11AM, 81F but humidity up to 94%. Legs were totally dead but came back slowly. In short order the sun had things baking nicely. Didn't feel like spending too much additional time out so got in 52 additional miles and back home for a dip in the pool.

20 miles on the MTN bike- most on dirt roads. I have concluded 1 mile on MTN equal 2 miles on my road bike. So can I say I rode 40?

26 miles mid-morning Friday. I should have started earlier and got in a few more miles. It was just warm and humid but not terribly hot, but by noon I could see storms heading in so I cut the ride short.

Another muggy, 60 mile ride with the gang this morning. Wasn't as hot as it was the past two days thanks to a front that's headed our way and hitting us in mid afternoon. It started cooling down the closer the front came. At least we didn't have to outrun the rain today.
