guilty as charged - I’m that fool
wear shorts year round - including (mtb) bike shorts on rides in the low 40’s
I’ve even snowmobiled in shorts
and often with vans and no socks - multiple upper layers and I’m fine
I do wear insulated jeans when I work outside for long periods in cold weather (below freezing etc)

Trek just announced a 10 percent reduction plan. Stock piles are too high, so the plan in 2026 is to release fewer models.

I think the industry has been trending that way for some time - aero bikes are becoming lighter, climbing bikes are becoming more aero. Eventually they meet in the middle.

First ride in at least three weeks. Yesterday my mojo made its return. Woke up at 3:30 and got my day underway. A city day. Today was ride day. A whopping 16 miles in upper 80s/low 90s. My legs feel it atm. I am always blown away at this. A nice light headbreeze on the way back to act as a cooling mechanism.
Shorts felt loose, which is a good thing, sort of*.
*I woke up from a mid day nap a few days ago, and almost had a pick me up cup of coffee, when it dawned on me I hadn’t eaten anything since my smoothie at 06:30 .It was 1:30 at the time. Today was the same thing. And yesterday.. No appetite for the last couple weeks. One would hope it returns at some point.

I now know how to tune Fox suspension, Step Cast 34 front, Float DPS rear, both with the fancy gold Factory finish. That was a lot for this roadie to handle! MTBs way more complicated. Took it around the block and initial impressions are 
. Made sure to fool around on some curbs and roots to challenge it a bit.
Can't wait to take it out for a real ride tomorrow morning. I have a customer call at 8 am (stupid European time) so I'll likely head out at 6:45 for an hour before I take the call ITG.

I checked their site yesterday and they had a Émonda SLR 7s for a grand less than I paid for my wife and my SLR 7s in the Fall of 2022.

Regarding shorts, nothing looks weirder on 20° Sunday afternoons during football season when the overweight football fans head to the liquor store in their baggy silky <insert favotite team> shorts. Seen it several times at my local convenient/liquor store.

They're called "ice spikes". Lots of ideas how they form, but essentially liquid water is pushed upwards through the center of the spike, where it freezes on the outside, and the spike grows taller.
