Signal to noise...waay down. (well fed) Trolling waay up. Trolling survey-type questions/statements waay up. I spend less and less time here. Crap and drama queens are taking over.

I'd like to know if disc brakes make a difference. I've got rim brakes and they work just fine.

One thing I'll say about this forum is that I have never seen so many posts arguing about arguing in any other place.

The only way we can make "General Cycling" sustainable again is if we all just let silly threads go without ...
Oh heck, I just went and did it.

If you took away the arguing the threads would only have two or three posts each. Hope we are in agreement. Of course we are because I am always (usually) wright.

What I find funny/odd about this site is people come here for a sense of community and shared interests. But if you dare to ask a question, there are certain members (not pointing fingers) who get all uppity and ask you if your google is broken.

Fair enough, but who is the arbiter of legitimate questions?

I figure each forum member can decide that for himself, don't you?

I had a 67 Mustang, no power steering, non power drum brakes, 4 speed with heavy clutch springs, no a/c. When I advertised it for sale a woman called and said she wanted to buy it for her 16 year old daughter. I tried to tell her it wouldn't be good for a 16 y.o. girl but she pressed on. She insisted on knowing how many miles it had on it. I explained that I had assembled the car from parts so it didn't matter what the odometer said. That freaked her out.

- Steel bikes are best.
- Motorex 2000 is the best bike grease.
- Waxing a chain out west is best but oil is best in the east.
- Leather Brooks saddles are the most comfortable saddles, period.
- And last but not least, and I agree with a previous post, "Are carbon bikes safe?"
That should give the General Cycling a jolt....hahaha...
