Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Only because I was morbidly curious what all the fuss was about. That, and it was $0.99 at Amazon

I bought that book at the $ .99 store a few months before the tour. It's funny to read, considering the situation.

Chain lube and a camelbak podium bottle, uninsulated. My Podium Chill is at my friends house, I needed another bottle anyway. Plus, they're like 8$. Not bad if you ask me.

Some Fizik tape, new cables + housing, cable + housing cutter, a chain breaker, simple green.

Finally took the cross levers off the tops, and gave my bike a well deserved degrease.

I remember reading the line that says: "I never once took performance enhancing drugs during the 2006 tour or at any other point in my career" and thinking yep, sure buddy...
